What have you done to your Miata today?

I like the camera mount setup on your sig claff. I haven't done much to the NB. I need to fix my speedo on my mx-3 still before I work on the NB.

Oh, quite a bit. The tune helped tremendously. I just have those other weird issues to figure out.

Ordered a set of RS3 225/45/15 tires on C1M wheels from Tire Rack for autoX, I'm slowly closing the gap in the street modified class, but there's a long way to go.

Like race tires, for example... ;)

They still have to be street legal, at least with my auto-x club. Otherwise I'll get thrown into 'Race' class.

They'll at least be a nice step up from 195/50/15 300 UTQG S.Drives!

In street mod? Guess ya'll aren't using SCCA rules then.

DOT-Rs, however, are "street legal" last I checked.

Yep, the top-end guys in the "Street Modified" class are using DOT-Rs, with gutted cars they bring on trailers. I still like to actually drive mine on the street!

You're not allowed to gut cars in SM.

Also, you're saying that the guys in Street Mod gut their cars and run race tires... but if you run race tires you get thrown into the "race" class... So... I'm confused. Which is it? lol

I would be okay with DOT-Rs, yes, but I don't have a decent way to get DOT-R wheels/tires to the event, and I'd rather buy tires I could still reasonably drive on the street. Non DOT approved race compound tires put me into race, go figure.

SCCNH gets such a wide variety of cars that they do their own, very broad, classing system. Otherwise you'd wind up with 3-5 cars in each class. They are also a little speshul when classing cars to begin with, my friend and I co-drove my car and each wound up in two different classes in the results (hand)

As for gutted cars being classed "SM"... well... that's just what I've seen. Not many people who do SCCNH events strike me as super-competitive, most of us are just there for fun (especially the guy who runs a limo with a welded diff), so I don't think many people really care too much how things are classed, as long as it's kinda close-ish.

It's pretty awesome, especially now that he welded the diff and slides all of the tight turns. Holy sidewall flex batman, it always looks like his tires are going to get ripped off!
