What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

Bought a new battery as a pre-emptive measure. Since getting the 8 it has spent some time outside and I noticed she was a little hard starting after a cold night (slow cranking). Tried Sears but theirs was longer than the original, so I ended up going to Mazda. It was only $15 more than a Diehard. Only problem is the positive post is slightly smaller than the clamp will close up, so I'm going to get some shim stock to put under it.

GOT MY AP!!

Just worried about the car dying while I am installing...
its cold in Canada.

Should I be worried?

dropped her off today to get the carpet replaced, have the rear MM and Diff Checked out just incase. and HELL YEA quik.. 3 days ago was my first time snow drifting in an AWD car.. i had a FWD car before and you have no control and kinda slide then come to a stop pick up speed and do it again.. i had COMPLETE control over the car even in slides i could even back out and slide the other way even at about 20 MPH.. drift circles were easy.. weaving while sliding was easy and figure 8's were easy and SOOO much fun..i felt like Ken Block in his STI lol.. i never liked winter before but now.. thanks the the mazdaspeed6 and its glorious AWD.. i LOVE winter.

Nice. i couldn't get crazy like I wanted. Like i said the snow was already ate up from a bunch of people drifting through there prior to me. So on a slide the car was like bump bump bump! Was making me come out my seat. i didnt get too crazy because i didnt want to screw up my suspension. I didnt do any 360's becuase I was turning the wheel but the car kept going straight. I stayed in 1st a majority of the time. Was able to get the car up through 4th gear while sitting there spinning wheels.

tires should be here tomorrow. 245/40's!!

no you should be fine. start the car first and let it run for a bit. then turn it off the car and install it. just dont run lights/radio

I'm thinking I might be able to get it out by dropping the subframe. If not, oh well. It'll just take longer. In the end, the clutch on the Speed6 is the only thing I never liked. It feels terrible. It clamps terribly. And regardless of adjustment, it never disengaged fully so getting into first gear was sometimes very difficult.

I'm picking up the Spec Stage 3 and Fidanza aluminum flywheel today. At least I have a lift to do it on next weekend. I wouldn't dare attempt it without a lift... lol

Subframe WILL have to come out and you still have to take the turbo out to access the top bolts of the trans.... Trust me it will not be quick or easy for you...

Sounds like a fun day at the shop! hehe; I intend to have Kelli (girlfriend) take pictures and write down steps so I can do a full how-to. I just have to find time in the shop to do it!

EDIT: VRMS6, did the turbo just have to be unmounted or did the oil lines have to be removed as well?

Ooooo i look foward to THAT How-to.
so i got a NEW rattle...

ever since mounting my DH it started so im fairly certain where its coming from, but cant get it to stop.
I have the DH mounted to the metal bracket, and the bracket simply tension mounted under the rubber liner piece on the top of the steering column.

Ever since i lifted that piece, i have a rattle.
hmm, i guess gotta live with it till CP-E or someone makes the MS6 ventmount for the dh eh?

got her back from getting the carpet re-done and the spot that i need fixed looks great.. but now the carpet in the back is all kinked and bubbled up.. clearly not how its supposed to be.. and the pass. side under the glove box i can pull the carpet down from the top about 6 inches.. just doesnt seem right.. i have an appointment to go back up there tomorrow to get them too look at it and fix it.. or possibly re-do it. any suggestions??

Well, are they using a generic carpet? Or are they using a carpet that was molded for the floor of the MS6? That makes a HUGE difference on fitment. The molded carpet is a bit more expensive, but doesn't look like ass.

no its molded carpet specific for the MS6.. and it looks like s***.. im very unhappy with the job.. like i said i will be taking it back tomorrow to see what they can do.. i have a feeling i will have to get mazda corp involved.. they already attempted to fix it once.. and by doing that they admitted that there was a problem and it is under warranty.. i hope they will either fix it.. or send my car to an upholstery shop and have it done RIGHT this time.

It's really not hard to install molded carpet. I mean... it's molded. You pull the seats, door trim and kick panels, console and put it in. Maybe I'm missing something? It's not hard at all.

no i dont think your missing anything but if you saw it you'd understand.. ill see if i can get any pics uploaded.. actually now that i think about it .. they may have mistaked MS6 carpet for the regualr 6 carpet..

That could do it. The Speeds are so much faster than the regular 6's that the standard carpets just can't keep up with your car! ;-)

lol.. but they steam treated the carpet today and it looks MUCH better.. theres still things that bug me bcuz im so picky but it has a 12 month warranty and they said it just needs to sit thru a couple hot summer days and it should settle and cure correctly.. and i believe them.. and if not ill take it back and see what else they can do for me.. but as of right now im satisfied with my dealer.
