What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

Drove it to work this morning.... As usual threw a CEL... Gonna go get some grocerys and my stock parts after work then try to fit it in the garage this evening to take the intake off

Is there a guide around here for the front bumper removal?

Its 25 outside right now. Going down to 18 tonight with a fresh start of snow in the moring and all day long. Calling for around 5 inches. Cant wait to play in the snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The front bumper is quite easy to remove but you shouldn't have to do the whole thing. One bolt above the driver tire where it comes back to and carefully unsnap it from the side and you should have enough room.

corvette would be fun in the snow wouldnt it

If you mean fun as in stuck. :(

I'm with jdw1. you shouldnt have to remove the entire bumper to take off the intake. Just do enough to be able to pull out the drivers side a bit to get your arm to it.

I would also investigate the CEL, haven't heard too many stories about guys throwing one just because of an intake. Maybe just back track to make sure you did everything right. Its easy to miss something small that can throw things off.

Got the car washed and an underbody flush. It was 26 degrees out, but the garage is 35 lol. First underbody flush since installing CAI in April.

Hmm, can't say I noticed much of anything, including noise with the installation of the test pipe. Oh well....took 20 minutes :/

Started this car this morning and noticed a CEL! Had it checked P0301 I think is what it was...Cylinder 1 misfire. Im guessing the plugs, or coil...But leaning more towards the plug :( I will investigate this weekend.

update from the garage... its midnight.. car is back outside all back to stock intake (minus a couple bolts) and stock BPV... bumper is on the floor beside me though haha taking it off was easiest, i dont have a large work area so having the whole front end open was nice.. only problem is my roommate was helping me out when i started... now hes in bed.. and its hard as hell to replace the bumper alone so that will wait till the morning

anyways, short form: all stock parts are on, ecu is reset, now its time to drive it again and if the codes come back then its another trip to the dealership

intake has been on since march or april... didnt throw any codes all summer

service manager was also a little surprised when i told it it was an OEM cold air kit

so, considering buying a couple of gauge pods and doing the center vent/driver's side top vent as locations....It just sucks that it's winter up here. I would rather install these outside, instead of waiting for a open stall at the hobby shop on base....

I love my Bklock8head dash pod for my boost gauge. It really does look like it comes from the factory, especially with the right colour matched gauge (of which there are a lot of options)

Where can I find one of those vent pods? It's the one that goes ont he defrost vent on the left side, correct?

That's the one. I think that's the best location for a boost gauge. Send a PM over to Ben (Block8head) and he should be able to make one up for you.

so, just bought my rho-plate (stupid NoDak plate laws), prosport mech boost gauge and oil press gauge with adapter for the oil filter. Now, i just need to get a hold of block8head for his pods....

Looks like the weatherman was wrong about the whole "no snow" thing.

The new Generals performed like champs. Great traction in the snow and the ice.

Yeah...MS6 saw its first snow/ice run to Lowe's off base and back...for some snow shovels and deice pellets.

Drove mine to work in the snow this afternoon. I went out for a test run around my neighborhood and did a couple baby drifts. I will find a parking lot tomorrow and have some fun. Bad thing is that we had about 2 inches and then it started raining/sleeting. Now it has stopped and is all turning to ice. Wish me luck on the way home late tonight. :-\
