What have you done to your CX-5 today?

My impression of them is they’ll make/sell just about anything they sense a demand for whether there’s a real or only imagined benefit. They seem to tool up quickly and push the product out the door often without adequate development. Compare them to a company like Racing Beat that works closely with Mazda in developing aftermarket performance that fit and perform properly!
IME CS takes a long time to bring parts to market.

Map light bulbs -- ordered several of the LED 5000K bulbs from VLEDS, with a claimed 170 lumens. Should arrive late next week or the week after. Hopefully it'll be heads and shoulders above the anemic DE3175's currently in the car. Don't use them much, but I darned well want them bright and a warm-to-daylight quality of light.

Highly recommended, for anyone looking for a DE3175-compatible, 30mm long cabin festoon light.

These bulbs put out an amazing amount of high-grade light into the cabin. Used them this morning. So easy to read (map, notes, book pages). The 5000K works really well.

Trying to troubleshoot some stuff
- Left front signal light needs replacing, blinking super fast..
- Fog lights don't work. Don't know what the issue is, going to check the fuse and go from there.
- A bunch of the fender clips are broken and need to figure out how to re-secure them. Yikes

Here's what I've done lately and hope no one does the same dum move that I did. I forgot to close the trunk. As I reversed out of my garage, I banged up the trunk against the garage door. Not a hole lot of damage, but enough that needs to be painted. 😭

Still breaking in the motor...salesman said 600 miles of varying the rpm. Does that sound right?
And then, what about the first oil change? Early or as scheduled?

yes on varying the rpm but don't be afraid to do some fairly hard accelerations and coast downs..I changed first time around 1000 miles which I have done on all my vehicles and never had an oil related issue.

Over the past 10 years my family has purchased seven CX-5's and always done the first oil change at 5,000 miles.
The motor seems to break-in and run at its best at approximately 10,000 miles.

I've had two CX-5s and a 3 and have noticed the same thing. Between 5-10k the engine seems to find its stride. I also change my oil every 5k miles (including the initial change), partly because I drive less than 10k per year.

Oil change, new OEM oil pan to replace rotted unit (posted in another thread, so strange), Redline in the trans.

This thing still drives like new at 11 years old. Although I really wish the newer ones were available with a manual.

It does not seem that Redline makes an FZ transmission fluid. What exactly did you put in it? Only FZ fluid with its specific properties and unique additives should be used in Mazda's Skyactiv transmissions.
I'm aware that some manual transmissions call for automatic transmission fluid (my old Neon was perfectly fine with it for over 230k miles), but Skyactiv-MT is not one of them. I used MTL 75W80.

Ok, I did not know you had a manual CX-5. That is a rare thing indeed.

Bought 2 oil filters...now wondering if the first and early oil change should be with full synthetic or not...?

It's personal preference. Perfectly safe to use conventional oil if you follow the oil change intervals in the manual, but the price difference between conventional and synthetic is so minimal, with synthetic providing much better protection in general, it's kind of a given that most would prefer using a full synthetic oil. There's no downside to it, especially when you can get a good quality oil for a low price, like Kirkland Signature synthetic 5W-30.
