what does it mean

what does it mean when you are changing gears and the engine feels like it jumps / moves forward slightly.?. it could just be my imagination or maybe I am shifting poorly, OR its just that the stock mounts are not strong enough for the FWD power.

anyone else experience this? it makes me want to drive the car less aggressively for fear of the engine dislodging itself.

thx (band2)

hmmm, your question could be interpreted in so many ways, but it could just be the motor mounts

try leaving it in gear (say 3rd around 3k so you have lots of torque to play with), take your hand off the shifter and give it a good amount of throttle/boost and let off while looking at the shifter. if it moves like crazy you could try some mounts

this is probably best felt or experienced when doing a "racing" 2-3 shift. if you're having trouble finding it or grinding cuz you miss it then you should probably get mounts

this may be related...

so how about this: u guys ever had that "jerky" motion when letting your foot off the gas pedal BEFORE you step on the clutch and shift? let's say you're approaching 4-5k rpms and you're accelerating pretty fast and you want to upshift, but there's this violent movement forward as soon as you let the gas go.

is it boost/bpv/bov related? cause i serviced my forge today and noticed i had the blue spring + 2 shims combo. i removed the shims, cleaned & regreased, performed and passed the pen test. seems like it's more "violent" now when i let it go on "semi-WOT" and WOT. the only way i avoid this is by "babying" the gas pedal.

any ideas? is it even normal to begin with?

I think you might be feeling shift shock? It's pretty hard to interpret your problem over the innanets... could you include a specific example? Are you miss-shifting on a hard run from 2nd-3rd... That is motor mount related.
If you just feel the car jerk around and catch after you shift then you are letting the clutch out too violently and or not matching revs correctly when you shift causing shift shock.

Yes, I get that too... now only in 1st and a little bit in 2nd... actually now that I think of it... since I put my Forge on (blue with one), that has reduced dramatically in gears 3-6, but is still present in gears 1-2 (placebo affect? Idk). I really don't know exactly what it is to be honest. Can anyone else help with this?

i didnt read everyones post so dont flame haha. but u need a rear motor mount! clean up that jerkyness

Sounds normal for a stock motor mount, like others suggested upgrading your rear motor mount will take a lot of slop out of the engine between shifts.

as for the car being violent shifting with the forge bpv i've never noticed that. I've used blue with 0 and 2 shims.
