There's no tripod mount socket for a smaller mount to be used as a dash cam huh? Seems like all the mount rely on the waterproof case...

I already received the Xiaomi Sports Camera from Gearbest yesterday (pretty fast shipping for once...), still looking for mounts and waiting for firmware updates to make it more of a dashcam... Right now, it requires manual power up and down and press button to record..

Do you know how this compares to a GoPro? I've been wanting a GoPro for my bike for a long time but can't bring myself to pay that kind of $. This is much more around my price point.

I have never used a Go Pro, so I can't compare. However I did make a short video of my dog eating some chicken and the quality is good. It has 3 buttons on it; simple to use. I plugged it into to my tv to charge it and I was given the option to browse it and play back the videos through the USB. I have not tried the wireless phone app yet. I see used Go Pros on ebay with less accessories for 50% more than the price I paid new for this one. As long as it doesn't quit anytime soon, I think it was a good deal.

When you're charging your AMKOV AMK5000S, is there a charging light? I don't know if it is charging or not as there's no light on mine when I plug it into my battery pack (to charge)

I ordered a octopus mount and suction mount from ebay. I recorded some stuff I'll upload something. I think a blue light comes on I'll double check. ok the blue and red lights come on when I connect it to the usb to charge it. After I turn it off, only the blue light stays lit. I think the light may go off when it charged.

Using 0.05 as reference, (sign) I think the AMK is slightly higher fidelity and it definitely has better colors.

btw the suction mount I got form ebay also came with a screw adapter. Also you could just adhere the clip plate to the bottom of the camera it has an adhesive on it.

Got my Amkv AMK5000 from GearBest - Best Gadgets & Electronics Deals today. I paid < $90 shipped + including a $3.50 spare battery. It has the same form factor as GoPro so I can use some accessories from that if I want. I will tape something with it and post later. It came with a good amount of accessoried out of the box, and there is some app you can use to wirelessly interface with an iOS/Android phone.

It is a fairly new camera and little to no review yet. So far, I would suggest look at the Xiaomi Yi, Mobius, Amkov AMK5000S, or maybe the slightly older SJCAM SJ5000.
The 32gb Micro SD card could be had for around $15 USD (~$110 to 120 HKD). And since you're in HK (I assume), you could easily get the Xiaomi Yi at or around retail price.

The difference between the SJ4000+ and the AMK5000S is the recording video resolution. The SJ4000+ can record up to "2K (2560 x 1440)" resolution. The Xiaomi Yi can be modded via firmware to record at a higher resolution than 1080p, I believe it is 2304x1296
