What did you clowns use to cut off your exhaust?

Those of you who replaced your CBE and didn't drop the rear subframe, what did you use to cut off the stock exhaust.

Is there enough room to use this without making a mess and cutting the heat shielding.

Or is it better to use something like this

Then there is this cumbersome looking tool, but for very cheap. Similar to pipe cutters but designed for exhauts.

the 3rd tool is specifically made for that job.... the 2nd will be hard to get a clean cut.. the first will work too.

also, the 3rd will likely make a more friendly cut to weld back together.... just something to think about.

I used a saws all to cut the exhaust off the car! Just make sure you jack the car up enough to be able to get in there and get it cut off!

use #1. takes far less time and still give you a decent enough cut to weld it back together. I used that to cut mine in 3 different spots and each were re-welded back with no problem

any replacement of the factory catback.

technically you don't have to cut it, but the amount of work to avoid it isn't worth it.

Saws all is easy money. Thats what I used to cut off the exhaust on my FC.

Sawz-all with a bi-metal blade. Cuts the stock exhaust like butter.

I thought they're just bolts holding the pieces together, the exhaust system is not one long pipe from the turbo all the way back is it?

I don't have a 3... but from what I understand.. the exhaust is put on the car before the rear subframe/suspension, so to get it off without cutting it, you have to do a lot of disassembly.. its faster, easier and cheaper to just cut it off, and bolt the new (more logically designed) exhaust in place. if you're installing the stock exhaust, you'd have to cut it or disassemble it to get it in anyway...

You have to drop the rear subframe to uninstall/reinstall the stock cat-back without cutting.

My Dealer used a sawzall and cut in 1 place. They made a good clean cut. They said to drop the subframe takes hours.

How I did it

Large pipe cutter did about 70% where it could reach, then finished it off with a jigsaw - that required a little file work to get a clean straight edge (lol2)

This clown used Monroe Muffler.
$100= cut off stock & install Vibrant system. Then, when I went back to stock before trade in...$60 to take off Vibrant and install stock, including welding. Go figure.
