In about 1 month and a half I will be getting a new car but first I want to get all of you guys opinion. My choices are, new sentra ser specv, Dodge SRT4, a vw gti 1.8 or a mazdaspeed if I can find one in Orlando. I just cant make up my mind. I have only driven a mazdaspeed and was impressed.
Thanks

MSP is teh w1n here.. neon is,.. well.. a neon..., the sentra is okay but you will get a cheap feeling, although it has 6spd and 175 HP NA

funny everyone brings up the "in a fast line" s***, not realizing the srt-4s are decent handling cars stock, let alone with better springs/shocks i guarentee it will be just as good as the msp in handling, but whatever, thats such a drawn out arguement...oh ya the 04s have a LSD making them even better through the twisties...

Yep, I fully agree and I intend to be picking up an SRT4 with Stage II (.w/turbo toys) and likely their stage I suspension.

SRT4 vs. MSP
Horsepower : 230 hp @ 5300 rpm Horsepower : 170 hp @ 5500 rpm
Torque : 250 lb-ft @ 2200 rpm Torque : 155 lb-ft @ 4500 rpm
Redline : 6750 rpm Redline : 6500 rpm

MPG : 29 city / 36 highway MPG : 24 city / 30 highway

Top speed : 153 mph Top speed : 130 mph(estimated)
0-60 mph : 5.6 sec. 0-60 mph : 6.9 sec.
0- mile : 14.2 sec @ 102.0 mph 0- mile : 15.4 sec @ 91.0 mph
60-0 braking distance : 120 ft 60-0 braking distance : 135 ft
200 ft skidpad : 0.85 g 200 ft skidpad : 0.89 g

Curb Weight : 2970 lbs Curb Weight : 2844 lbs
Overall length : 175.7 in. Overall length : 174.6 in.
Wheelbase : 105.0 in. Wheelbase : 102.8 in.
Overall Width : 67.4 in. Overall Width : 67.1 in.
Height : 56.5 in. Height : 55.3 in.

The SRT4 has a faster top speed, quicker 0-60 (by over a second!), better qtr mile time, has more HP, more Torque, and makes both sooner in the RPM range. A higher redline, and an arguably more comfortable interior.

Mopar has given this car it's full support releasing 3 stages of upgrades for turbo performance as well as suspension upgrades and exhaust upgrades. The car also has no Muffler to speak of and even has a functional heat gauge that doesn't just sit dead center in the middle while the cars temps fluctuate up to 40 degrees like most other cars. The stage II performance add on from Mopar is only $1600 and bumps the car up to 265HP/280ft-lbs of torque. This includes an intercooler sprayer which can function automatically or manually, as well as the option to switch to 100 octane maps with knock detection. On 100 octane this car will put out an amazing 280HP/300lb-ft of torque. With labor, and stage II performance and suspension, this car will still cost under $25,000 and be a mean little car that unfortunately still looks like a friggin skittle.

On the other hand the MSP does not look like a Neon.

to me the neon feels cheap inside, the crank windows in the back, plastic side mirrors, ya sure you could buy the car, swap the radio, lower the back, paint the side mirrors, change this, change that. But for me the MSP canme100% inside and out, im not racing everyday for my life, i go to school, work and out so i really dont care if my car is running 14's or 15's (even thought my speed now is running 14's :) ) Just drive em all, compare em all, warranty, saftey, then choose.

Yep, I can see your point. For me, I like a car that looks tame. Sleepers rule. No attention from Ho's with drama, johnny ricer looking to race, johnny law writing tickets, and theives doing their thing. Hell, if the rear wing on the srt4 wasn't functional I would just take it off. Heck, I still might.

The mazda though, the clunk, the hesitation, the windsheild crack, the stereo really isn't that good either. I've already got a much better system that I can just put in whatever I buy next.

As far as the color scheme, I'll be getting a black SRT4, so I don't really have to worry about it so much, all the trim is already black.

i was considering selling my MSP in a couple years and buying an SRT-4, but i decided to wait a little longer, then sell my MSP and get an STi.

really you need to go test drive all the cars you are looking at. all cars are going to have there pros and cons. i have owned a msp for about a year and was impressed also when i first got it. car handles great but just did not have the power that i wanted.

i now own a 2004 srt-4 and love more than i ever did the msp. its funny when people say the srt-4 is just a neon well the msp is just a protege.

i would never buy regular neon or a protege i would buy a civic.

Thanks everyone, keep the opinion going. Yes I will test drive all of them. I would get an Evo if I could afford it but the SRT4 is as far up as I will go in price. You guys can vote in the poll.

id actually get an srt-4
im so sick of slow ass cars, and they can be made to look alright.
followed by the se-r, my friend has one and its actually really good for the price IMO
then the speed a VERY close 3rd
