What are the best intake systems?

:
Mazda 3s
I have a 2004 Mazda 3s and I wanted to know what was the intake that gives you the best horsepower and torque. I was currently looking at AEM but I wanted to know if anyone had anything better and where I could buy it. Thanx!!!

and over, and over, and over....

I think it (so far) comes down to AEM and Injen..... In my own biased opinion i say go with AEM.... since they distinguish between AUTO and MANUAL transmissions. If you can get a product specifically for your vehicles tranny/intake geometry for the same if not cheaper then DO IT!!

i just installed an AEM tonight on my 2.3 and was very surprised at the nice growl my engine now makes. I really didnt think it would make such a big difference but guess i was wrong... I even got it in Red to match my car :D ...cant wait to install an exhust system thatll really make it howl

I want to get the AEM intake but i heard that it is only available for manual transmission only. However, I've seen alot of places that doesnt distinguish between manual or automatic so i wanted to know whether or not i can install it since i have the automatic transmition. Thanx!!!!

The part number on the AEM is 21-487, and I read another performance website that said you can only install that on the Manual Mazda 3s. So i just wanted to know if i could also get it for my automatic.

Many a thread on this

The AEM was designed on the manual tranny. It will fit the auto but will, quite possibly rub a bolt on the tranny and damage scratch your intake. The Injen was designed on the auto so it fits both without rubbing. Your call on the intake though. If you gotta have the AEM and are will to risk the scratches go for it. If it doesn't matter AEM or Injen IMHO I would go with the Injen. The both boast approximately the same numbers so it's your call.

Not to thread jack but...

...I grew up wakeboarding on Lake Kerr in Salt Springs. You know where that is proboarder?

Todd Richards and I went to k-12 together in a small Massachusetts town. Eighth grade graduation class = 28.

Anybody have any thoughts on K&N? I know they recently came out w/a CAI for the 3. They say it fits both the manual & automatic w/no problems.

If I where you go with AEM or Injen cold air or short ram intake those are the best ones on the market pleace I own A AEM cold air and it was wroth every dollar.

Alright well thank you for your input and I just wanted to know if there is anything else i could do to boost the performance without having to get NOS. I was considering getting headers however I haven't found anything so far for the 3 and I think the exhaust would sound crappy on a 4 cylinder. The last thing i want is that annoying sound you hear when a civic with exhaust drives by.
