When I got my 5, I noticed these adhesive squares in the bottom of the cup holders between the seats. On an older vehicle I had, there were these mat thingys in them, so I was wondering if I'm missing something in there.

yeah I'm pretty sure there are those round rubbery/foam coaster thingies in my 5. dealer should be able to order them for a few bucks.

yep. Looks like the foam lining was pulled out. MAybe someone test drove the car before you purchased it and pulled them out with their drink?

Or maybe aliens abducted your car and pulled them out, just like they removed my spleen. Muahahahaha
-kidding :p

Hey, i just did a PDI on a 5 yesterday and yes there is that foamy thing inside of the cup holder, but just go to like a dollar store and pic up a thing of foam or a non-slip type thing and cut it out yourself, that would save SO much hassle with having the dealer involed. there also a rip off. The dealer i mean.

I traded my spleen for the cupholder thingy, no one has ever been able to explain to me what the spleen does anyway. Now the cupholder insert, that I can see the virtue of keeping.(rofl2)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spleen :D

FWIW, apparently no one else knew what a spleen did until 1993. Looks like it gobbles up red blood cells... today a needle gobbled up about a pint of mine, go me (cabpatch)

Okay, lol... getting a little off topic here, eh? I do rather like the alien abduction theory though!

OMG! The parking brake is gone (shocked)

I may have noted it before but now I know for sure. Here are some pics (06 and 08, same thing) so to ensure you keep the OEM looks, LOL

It might cost you $4365.82 in AutoZone, adhesive included :D

Wait a minute, is the 08 cleaner because its so new or because your wife is an OCD sufferer? Oh and OMG! the parking brake is gone!!!!

Wait a minute, is the 08 cleaner because its so new or because your wife is an OCD sufferer?

I knew those contrasting clean-er vs. messy pics would hunt me back (sad2), LOL...

Oh, and I'm driving the "cleaner" one. I'm actually obsessed about candy wraps, old papers or garbage jammed around door handles and trays. I just freakingly get rid of them as soon as the car is turned off. In contrast, wife does not care. I know, I know (screwy)...

To take this in slightly different direction - does anyone have ideas for a good trash container? I have one that velcro's around a headrest (I use the front passenger's) but I don't like it. It's kind of in the 2nd row passenger's face and when people get in and out the the 2nd row, it's in their way. On positive side, I can reach it when driving. There don't seem to be so many choices of auto trash containers. At one point in time, I had a sandbag weighted one, that sat upright on the floor - not sure what happened to it. I keep looking for one like that - but can't find one. What do you folks use in your Mz5?

We have this small collapsible soft receptacle that is wedged between the second row seats. Our sport model doesn't have the tray table to get in the way. Occasionally the girls actually do use the so-called trash can.

Heh, +1 on the "trashy spouse". If I didn't keep up with her, there would end up being a 6" layer of trash on every surface of the car. Before I was with her, the car she had then got washed if she took it to the dealer for an oil change, otherwise 0 cleaning got done. She just doesn't care what the car looks (and smells, ick) like.

Those two little adhesive thingy's just gave me an idea. I think i will put a bit of self-stick velcro on the bottom of my go cup and a bit on the bottom of the cup holder. That way, my cup might actually stay in the holder while turning corners. :) That and the single door lock are my only complaints with my P5. ... oh yeah, the two rust spots everyone else has too.

the cup holders are not that fun to clean when the coffee/liquid spills into it. I put layers of tissue at the bottom.

My wife is the messy one in our relationship. If you were to take the contents of her car to the recycling center you could make one of my car payments! I use the soft sided velcro bag thingy that Target sells, its for my daughter to put her trash in. All of my trash gets policed up when I shut off the car.

for the trash bag, we use the door pockets n empty them regularly... on long trips though we use a plastic grocery bag and put one loop around the shifter and one on that little rubber peg of the glove box door... than carefully SLAM!! the glove box before it falls off the pegs... badda bing

So I'm checking in with my final choice on a trash bag - and I'm very happy with it - see this link: http://www.familyonboard.com/car_trash_bags.html - (the 1 gallon bag that sits on the floor) - works great. It can be moved out of the way of passengers as necessary, has a cover on top and is water-proof inside - so handle damp/wet trash without leaking. The sand bag inside keeps it upright. It's just what I was looking for - I definitely recomend it. My biggest issue - and it's very minor - is after a trip with the kids in the back, that it be left within my (the driver's) reach - so I can use it when driving alone.
