hello i am really loking for any advice i can get. im having a problem with my mazda prtege 5 2.0L every time i step on the gas and the rpm starts t decrease or when im going really slow i hear this weird noise, it sounds almost like there is a bolt thats lse with washers on it just rattling away and its annoying the crap out of me. i took the car to the dealweship n they said it was the heat shield, i insisted it wasnt but they said to remove the heat shield, so i did and still the noise is still there. any suggestins? would it be better if i viedotaped it? just so you can hear the noise.....? a gasket maybe??

Which heat shield did you remove? Theres 3 heat shields I can think of and they all rattle. Exhaust mani, under the shifter and back atop the muffler

My car has many rattles that I have learned to live with:
  • Inside the cabin above my head and to the left, something rattles up in there.
  • the black plastic surrounding the instrument cluster rattles at certain rpm's.
  • when I accellerate the engine pings, due to carbon build up as a result of leaking valve seals.
  • The exhaust just started rattling last week when I take off from a stop, its the inside of the Cat shaking...
It's 8yrs old, what can you expect....

i managed t get it fixed, it was the heat shield below the shifter, however the problem im having now is there is a hole in the muffler haha one thing after another

The rattle in the pillar is the clamping for the rubber tube (drain for the sunroof?).

I filled it with spray foam and fixed it. Was at its worst when it was cold outside.

Atleast ur entire dash and hood doesn't rattle also the thing that holds the hood up rattles extremely loud sometimes how or why idk. But be gratefull y'all don't have the back plastic piece like the sedans do. Rattles like a mofo even with subs off subs on and its rediculous
