i dont know if this happen to anybody, but today my car has some weird noise at the front right wheel when the car is rolling, whenever i hit the brake or stop the car, the noise will gone. Whenever i let the car roll again, the sounds come out again, if i drive faster, the sound is become kinda louder to me, i can hear it with the music is on!!! I dont know if it the wheel bearing problem, but to all the experts out there, any advice or any ideas to help out......BIG THANKS!!!(rockon)

Well, what does it sound like? A noise like if you had snow tires on or a scraping sound?

i had a similar problem with mine. i kept taking it back to the dealer. they checked the rotor, the pads,calipers,ect...... they said everything looked fine and there was no wear to the pads, rotor, or bearings that would cause such a problem. well i changed out my brake pads to kevlar, despite the fact they said not to bother with, and noise went away. so if all else fails just try changing the brakes. cheap and simple

I just had both front wheel bearings replaced (under warranty!! (yippy) Noise started out to me as a loud tranny. I added fluid but over the months the noise got louder then I could here it from one side then the other, turning or applying the brakes made he noise stop. Soon turned into grinding.

Since the replacement I can't believe how much crisper the handling is. Bought the car (2003.5 Pro5) w/ 22k and now has ~42k.

Hey guys,
I don't have a thumping noise coming from the front end but, I hear a squealing noise coming from the engine bay only when I make sharp left turns. Anyone else experience this problem? Is it my belts?

Squaling when turning + Thumping may = severe wheel bearing issue.

jack the car up and see if there's any play in the wheels.

No thumping noise yet. Only squeals on sharp left turns and then goes away. Sorry, should have been more clear.

Hi, I'm a new owner of a 2003 blue P5. I seem to have the same trouble as the OP. There is a ticking noise that seems to be coming from my front right wheel. I start to hear it at 50 mph and it gets louder and louder as my speed increase.

It sounds like a real fast tictictictictic nerver stopping (sorry, didnt find any better way to describe it).

FWIW I did search to not much avail...

Thanks for any help!

Couple of things to check.

1) If you just got new tires then they may not be balanced (if you hear a thumping/vibration) Get a friend to drive next to you at highway speeds to check the balancing.

2) The ticticticing may be something stuck in the wheel. I hear a ticking and checked the tread and found a nice fat screw embedded in it.

3) Bearings will start as a slow grinding vibration that gets worse when you turn, then as the bearing goes it will get louder and rougher.

Just some things to think about

sounds like you have a rock in your tread...

Sadly it's not just something in the tread. I checked it carefully.

The direction has been check before it was sell. The best way to describe the sound...a few pills left in a bottle and you shake it up fast!! (crazy)

And it is more around 60 to 65 mph that it is starting...and it doesn't look worst when turning the wheels.

Thanks

It could be the beginning of a wheel bearing going bad. Mine started out as clicking but then moved on to a much worse noise. When I got it out of the hub it was crushed into 5 different pieces. I would start there. New bearings are between 30-40 bucks.

Thanks
Can I check it myself without much tools and lift or I have to bring it in...?

It is kind of one of those things that you might want to have someone else check. If it is broken you need a special tool to get it out and to pack the new one in.
