Weight Loss Program

At the age of 15 I was 285 lbs, 5'8
I dropped it down to 148 lbs in less than six months.

Excercise is key

Eat only lean meats (i/e chicken, turkey, etc), and drink water or skim milk.

Chewing gum deters hunger for me.

the nice thing about this is that my metabolism has boosted like crazy. I don't eat fast food unless i have no other choice, and even when I do I burn it off pretty quickly. i have always had very slow metabolism.

i like freeweights myself, but the bowflex definitely is cheaper and saves space. using machines though you don't work your supporting muscles as much because of the movement they force you to do. but on the plus side you can quickly go from one exercise to another and keep your cardio up so you'll burn more fat. so i would say if you're looking to lose weight or tone up, bowflex is good, but if you're looking to gain strength freeweights are the way to go

When I was 18 (ohh, the memories..) I used to play basket ball for 3 hours a day, and could play for 8 if I wanted too, I was 5'11" (still am) and weighed 185 pounds. I could eat ANYTHING, and not gain an ounce..

I then gain a lot of weight in a short time, and never took it off, and then gained more, by the time I was 25, I weighed 245 pounds. Over a year or so, I lost about 20 pounds, and held steady for a year, lost a few more pounds and the started to work @ honda, after 4 months @ honda, weighed, and now currently weigh 210 pounds, not bad for a lazy ass..

Tomorrow I am going to look @ a gym..

Working out not only helps you lose weight, but also helps the mind, so it can focus, and be sharper..

btw, depression is one of the leading reasons people put on weight, and working out also helps fix that..

I dont see the reasoning in whining about metablism

In loosing the weight I tried and tried and tried to dip down to 140 and it just wasnt possible. My metabolism was dead. I gained major weight from eating the simplest of foods. Anything but cereal packed on the lbs.

I now can totally control what foods cause "flabbiness" and which (combination of) foods cause increased acne. It's all different for each person.

one confession that I do have to make is that I am still smoking. I am trying to be a healthier person so quitting is on my list just haven't done it yet

Hey maybe we should have Mazda fitness challenge... It would help keep me motivated I know for sure. We could base it on percentage of body weight lost and body fat percentages and body mass index scores...

What do you guys think, anyone intrested in this?

I've lost 15 pounds in 2 monthes during the summer.

But I guess most of you guys can't use my method since you guys have to work. My method is that you workout in the morning so that your burn fat as fuel instead of the food that you ate.

Good work. I did something similar starting last January (New Years resolution). I was once skinny, but during school, I packed it on. I maxed out at about 196 (5'11"). I lost about 35 pounds in 4-5 months, and have kept it off since. Its totally a way of life. I ate out less (when I did, I always ate half, saved the rest for lunch the next day), cooked healthier and limited proportions. Salads pretty much every day at work for lunch (desk job, doh!). Its amazing how your body really WILL tell you you're full if you let it. I also ran about 4 times a week (2-3 miles). Then started lifting weights. Drink a lot of water too, helps metabolism. As you gain more muscle, muscle burns calories faster, and thus you can eat a bit more (you'll start feeling hungrier)

I now feel awesome and get plenty of stares from the chicas. Too bad I'm engaged, lol :). I just need to work on my abs. I hate doing situps. HATE them. I eat more than when I was trying to lose weight, but I haven't gained anything back. An active lifestyle is a healthy lifestyle.

Its also good to see some people see the light beyond Atkins. That s*** is crazy. You basically starve yourself of carbs and force yourself into ketosis, which is bad for your kidneys. You get old people s*** breath from that, and by eating all of the greasy s***, your cholesterol hates you. Hmm, I dunno, I kind of like eating whatever I want, just less!

8 minute abs :)

the atkins diet is basically what body builders have been doing for years. low carb, high protein. it's weird that it's all of the sudden a phenomenon, it's not like it was a magical secret that was discovered.

and i don't get how people weigh so little. i'm 5-8 or so, and it's not exactly like i'm super muscular, but i weigh 185. then there are all of these people saying they're taller than me and weigh way less. it's just weird to me. even my friend who lifts all the time and is a big dude is like 6'1" or so and only weighs like 15lbs more than me and can lift a shitload more than me. maybe i'm just a fatass

That is good to here keep up the good work. Just remember it is easy to lose weight, but it is even harder to maintain it. If anyone wants some workout tips just give me a holla. I am currently in training for a novice toughman competition so I know alot of good burnouts you could do to tone and cut up.

Hey guys, there is something wrong with hotmail. I have all the info typed up and the attachment ready to go but it won't let me send it. I'll try again tomorrow. I have to go to bed now.

5'7"
305 in 2000
185 in 2002 (bench 310 :) )
260 in 2004
(hand)

If I hit 300 again I'm going for bypass surgery. I cant take this s*** any more. The next person who tells me its about willpower is getting a fist to the throat. I 've done enough dieting and work in the gym to be an olympic athlete.

Send it to me please joseph_022@hotmail.com

yes, and lots of cardio and watch your diet. you want to have your muscles burn when you lift if you want definition, and diet is very important if you want real definition. you can't see muscles behind fat

laserblue, you're saying that you kept your diet and workout exactly the same (i.e. progressing weights or reps as your body gets used to them, etc...) and still gained 75lbs?

im 263 and 6'3 with a 38 waist. I optimally want to be like 220-230 so i could use all the help i can get.

What do you all think a good weight is for a very athletically built 6'3 person?

No.. jan 03 I was rear ended hard and that slowed me way down. I was gaining while maintaining my workouts though.
Im not implying that it was a mysterious force....I ate more and worked out less. The thing is that the internal mechanisms that drive eating are way beyond willpower. For example..... Imagine having hot chicks available 24 hours a day and making sure that you never take more that one home every other day. GOOD LUCK!
Sexual appitite is no where near as strong as the drive to eat. Its not like you'll croak if you dont get laid....er well maybe :)
