Weddings

I'm afraid I don't know much about weddings, and neither does the girlfriend. But in anticipation, I felt it a good idea to make a thread. Please feel free to post if you have any pertinent information. Thanks!

- What are some suggestions you have?

- What are things you wish you would've done differently if you had the chance to do it over again?

open bar for teh guests!!

oh, and AT the very least, make sure the actual ceremony is not only running on schedule, but dont make it like a 2 hour event for 10 minutes of procedure...

I haven't even started getting to the meat and bones of planning mine. I would like to lock my future mother in law in a sealed glass soundproof chamber until the event, however.

ahhh yes... mother-in-laws always have their opinions on EVERYTHING... but I think thats par for the course.

Im suprised they havent developed a resort/vacation idea just for M-I-Ls before marriage

Well, I certainly hope yu have the $$ for an open bar when it comes time for your wedding.

best thing to do is to find a location where you can have the ceremony and reception at. My wife and i had ours at a hotel on the beach. It was fantastic, on stop shopping. They even had an on site wedding co-ordinator that was a huge help.

For a photographer, find someone that has branched out on their own, they will give you the best deals. Getting a photographer from a studio can be pricy. We lucked out and got our photographer fresh from breaking away from her studio employer...the pice was just as awesome as the photos.

I'm having a friend from high school do the photos.. she's just starting up her own photo business.

wow...what a skank....the wedding day is totally for the bride.

Hahaha!!!

My advice to you is take your time, at least a good year to plan the wedding and be able to afford the wedding. Do your homework, shop the prices vendors give you but most importantly, don't sweat the small stuff. Just remember this day is about the one single moment that you and your wife-to-be stand in front of your loved ones and pledge your lives to each other. :)

Good luck!

exactly... I would have told her "its MY wedding day... the fact that other people are coming is my way of being nice"

(werd) Couldn't have said it better myself.

Oh and make up a budget that's realistic and stick to it!

Also, make a list of things that are important in the ceremony and reception, and categorize them by things you'd like if you can afford them, and things that absolutely have to be part of the wedding.

I've already told her to shut the f up twice, and if she doesn't like it, she can stay home and pout about it.

yeah I said thats for the guests... assuming theyre having a ton.

me personally, MY wedding, I wouldnt even care if there were guests so an open bar wouldnt be a requirement. It would however be something nice that I would try to get assuming there are more than a few guests
