We were so tired we just came back to the room and fell asleep. (peep)

thats most people's wedding nights... Id be willing to bet there is definately a higher percentage of those who sleep than those who follow "tradition"

getting up @ 3am for wedding preps makes for sleepy people... :p

Sad thing is.... we were the 2 soberest people at our own wedding. I don't think I got to finish a beer. (boom07)

And back to the topic of this thread.... 2 very important words: "Time Management". Manage the time to plan the wedding and manage the time during the reception to walk around and thank your guests for coming. It's really nice to talk with all your guests and stuff. :D

and also, dont forget to eat some of your own wedding cake lol i dont even remember eating it other than when we fed it to each other (boom07)

as were my brother and sister... my sisterinlaw wouldnt even let my brother drink. They shared half a glass of champaigne in the limo and a glass before dinner (for the toast).

they had to be sober for "talking" to the guests... so yeah, everyone BUT them drank.

i guess i'll add my side of things since i'm planning my own atm...

imho, too many weddings these days are more about the event rather than the purpose and meaning behind it. everyone has different thoughts and ideas, but i MUCH prefer smaller, more intimate weddings (ie 50 or fewer people). with fewer guests, you actually get to celebrate the day with the people that mean the most to you and you KNOW who's there and get to share your joy and happiness with them instead of a faceless mob of 200+ guests. i mean honestly, with everything going on that day, how do you expect to have the time to talk to everyone if you have that many people attending? to me, a smaller wedding is so much more special and meaningful than a large one.

due to a lot of circumstances out of our control, we have to plan many things for the actual wedding very last minute (i HATE that it's this way). but we have planned what we can: location (his best friend's backyard), guests (immediate family only with a couple very close friends), who's marrying us (his best friend), ceremony (still working on that one, but it will be short and sweet), reception (bbq in the backyard with a homemade cake), etc. everyone wants different things, but this is what works for us and is what we want; my advice, no matter what kind of wedding you want, is to keep it simple. good luck!

Amen! :D

PM me if you got any questions! I am not married, but I am a wedding videographer and I have seen a ton of great weddings and a TON of boring ones.

Elope, then have a big celebration when you and your wife come back from Vegas or wherever you do it.

Our wedding cost around $5,000. But we didn't pay for it, my Wife's parents did. It was a fun wedding other than the music messing up due to a certain someone. We saved money by doing alot ourselves (ie. invitations, background settings, table covers, and other misc stuff). Also we didnt have the occasional dinner, we had our wedding around 2pm so we just had appetizers, since it was after lunch. As for the photographer, I was told she did good work, I do not think they turned out well, but my Wife says other wise (you can view them here). We originally were going to take a 2 week honeymoon to Rome, Italy, but since her dad worked for American Airlines (employees tickets for overseas were embargoed), we went to San Antonio, TX. We still had fun, and spent way less than we would have, we would have been broke when we came home if we went to Rome, lol. But we plan on going overseas in the next couple of years.

But you hit me up and tell you exactly what we did.

Even though the wedding was inexpensive, the ceremony, was beautiful, the church we choice had high ceilings and beautiful stain glasses.
