We lost a fellow brother last night...

I just saw the banner for the first time while on another thread.
I wasn't even a member in December, nor have I had a chance to read this entire thread but am truly sorry for the loss your friend. My sincere condolences to you, and his family and his friends.
I thought it odd that the newspaper article highlights the fact that he wasn't wearing his seat belt. I have been a staunch supporter of seat belt use for many years now, but in this case I don't think it would've made a bit of difference. He must have lauched it into that pole at speed.

...Months later, it is still going strong.
Needless to say, my brother was an awesome driver. Probably one of the best. I've been in the car with him in the mountains going well over 100 mph around those turns that are more like U-turns. I feel that this just shows how one split second can change so many lives. I miss him so much as I know all of you do as well....
Lacy,
I am truly sorry that you lost your brother and know that you will never stop hurting. As so many others have said, it's really nice that these forums have been able to pull together in this way to help you and your family, as well as ourselves, deal w/an issue of this magnitude. It's never an easy thing to do. But an "awesome driver" would've never put your life and other motorists lives in jeapardy as you describe in this post.
Many famous awesome drivers are in the same place your brother ended up because of one slip... Dale Ernhardt comes to mind. But Dale was on a race track, in a race prepared car after years of training and practice and most importantly, w/o ANY passengers.
If I had been a passenger in that car going 100MPH around mountainous switchbacks, I would've asked to be let out.
As you so rightfully state, one second (or less) is all it takes to changes other people's lives forever. He should not have taken your life for granted either. Please remember that too.

sorry this took me a while, but i've been camera less and finally baught one.

Can't say I ever met the guy, but its a shame when someone of his age dies so early in life. I wish his family the best of luck in this tough time. My prayers go out to his entire family and those that were associated with him. Rest in Piece Shannon.

Don't know if its too late, but is there still a way I can get me a decal? Ill gladly apply it to my car and if only in a little way, help Shannon's spirit live on.

*Edit* Just saw the date of his birth: June 23rd, 1982. Thats one day before my birthday. So that means he would of been 24 this year........Very very sad. *tear* Kinda hits close to home.

Just recently signed up to the forum. To all the family, girlfriends & friends I'm truly sorry for your loss. I will proudly fly 1338 on my mazda and other vehicles that I and my husband own.

Be safe.

I've been around for a bit now, but after our last Meet I've seen the decal on Pat's (KronicKid) MP5 and read the full thread... and yet have no words;

If thou didst ever hold me in thy heart,
Absent thee from felicity awhile,
And in this harsh world draw thy breath in pain
To tell my story.

We got the decal in the mail yesterday.

Condolences, it's always painful to lose a friend or loved one.. Isn't it just plain stupid that the writer of that article just had to drop in that he wasn't wearing a seatbelt... They just love to act like it'd matter in a crash like that. Not unlike Australia's stupid bicycle helmet laws..Can't begin to count the number of times I've seen news articles about kids on bikes getting killed by cars where the author just has to drop in that they weren't wearing a helmet. Those who lost obviously suffered enough without suffering more from the stupidity of do-gooder newswriters brown nosing for points with the police and pro-helmet crew..

Again, condolences on your and his families loss.. :(

Hello, this is Shannon's mother. That is the point I tried to make. But when I called the news reporter and I got her message machine and became so angry that I had to hang up. Thank you for noticing this tasteless reporting. We are hanging on day by day but strongly appreciate all your prayers and thoughts.

Something like this is always tough on everyone. Especially the ones closest. My deepest regrets to everyone who knew him personally. I'll be placing my stickers on as soon as my motor is installed.

I just received my 1338 stickers as well, Bill.
