Warranty on Cats?

No I'm not talking about furry cats...

I just had my car looked at becuase i thought it had an exhaust leak and it did. One of the catalytic converters is leaking. They (Midas) told me that it should still be under warranty. They said the warranty is a Federal Warranty. Not sure if it's a govt thing or the company. Anybody know anything about this. Also they could not get a replacement one due to the fact that it is so new. Last time I checked 3-4 years is not that new but I could be wrong. Thanks for the help.

hmmm I dont remember the length in years... but mazda will cover the cats/pcm under an emissions warranty up to 80k miles..
