Will I have warranty problems if I install a CAI on my Mazda 3? I live in Ontario Canada and I don't know how the dealer react to engine mods. Please help.

cheers

I'm not sure about Canada, but in the US, a non-OEM part can't void your warranty unless it is directly related to the warranty claim.

As an example, if you have a cold air intake and suck in water, destroying your engine, the warranty would be void for replacing the engine.

But if you have a cold air intake, and your rear hatch won't open, then the warranty is valid, because the two things are not at all related.

Not sure about Canada. But a search would probably find some info pretty quickly...

depends on dealership...the one my car is at now is mor leaneant to mods than the one I bought it from...I currently have a tranny cooler and bosal exhaust on it right now. Ask around to what dealerships are cool. but as stated above if it caused the problem then it's not covered.

I had a good conversation with one of the Tech guys at Ontario Mazda, just west of Toronto. He said that other people had come to them wanting to mod their protege's, and what made the dealership happy to help them was that they came to the deslership with their parts and had them install the parts.
Now, you'd be paying dealership rates for some work that could likely be done yourself, but they're more willing to help you troubleshoot problems and come up with solutions for more work.
I haven't gone to the service boss yet (who makes all the final calls for stuff like this I'm told) but I'm going to have to take a long hard look at the cost of installing through the dealership versus arguing with them if I want warranty work done on my half-year old car.

true...I guess that would be cool cause I heard of acura doing that with rsx. You will be paying outrageously for a non warrentied item but won't get hassled later on. I guess you pay for piece of mind literally.

or they charge u out the butt for install then when u come back with a problem they still hassle you lol.
