1 out of 3 VW/Audi owners had to have their car towed because of electronic failures.

Complete bulls***. Anything you said before or since is meaningless since you have no credibility after that stupid statement.

honestly, it looks like a nice car, but i'm just not into the whole vw scene... honestly speaking, i hate vws... everyone i know that's had one has had a lot of reliability problems... blown engines, ****** up electronics, heaters, a/c, things of that nature... it just seemed like a huge headache most of the time to own them...

a german magazine did a "reliability" poll amongst german carbuyers... vw and mercedes were listed dead last... i believe toyota and honda were the top 2 (maybe 3rd for honda??). i forgot the magazine unfortunately (mercedes really surprised me)

anyway, the car has a great interior... very homey, though somewhat cramped, as compacts are... sleek design and comfy seats... AMAZINGLY nice sounding engine/exhaust...

but in the end, i think it has put too much into its facade, and not enough into performance. of course, this may be the goal of the car... but if you're looking for a luxury car as some people call this, then for 30k you're kinda getting gipped. it is, in the end, a Golf... but i mean this only in the luxury depiction of the car... performance is a different meter by which i judge, since it's so incredibly different from golfs.. if the car were 26k i'd say that this is an awesome deal. but at a starting price above the evo? you're really only buying an interior.

VW's have soul. Treat 'em right and put up with quirks. You can't beat on them quite as hard as you can Japanese or other makes, but drive them nice, smooth and fast, and they rock (esp. when modded obviously)...I've had 5, but still love my MSP - but really LOVE the R32! (2thumbs) ....just my, well, you know.....02.

Oh yeah, and they drive - solid? Don't know if that describes it, but you know it when you drive them. I had a '95 GTI VR6 w/a lot of bolt-ons (German built model), 100K miles, and had ZERO problems...nor did I before. After that, a 2000 GTI 1.8T that was totaled (not my fault) brought me to the MSP - the 1.8T ran great as well...think I had like 40K when destroyed. Very sad.
