So i removed the VTCS from my car today. Overall improvements in throttle response and power of the car. Highly recommend.

Nice job man, run into any problems along the way? Any negitive results from this?

No negative results all positve. More Power. Hardest part was removing the intake with egr still attached. I left it all as one piece (didn't seperate the intake).

Could you please write out the steps you did as a rough outline?

I want to do this but don't really have the know-how. I just want to know what all is involved.

I will post a rough outline later tonight at work now.

These are the steps that i did when removing everything.
*Always mark stuff if you're not going to remember where it went.
** This is a rough outline!!

1. Remove after-market/stock intake system.
2. Remove wiring harness clips enough so you can set it all out of the way.
3. Disconnect fuel fittings and remove fuel rail.
4. Disconnect the front EGR fitting on Exhaust manifold/header.
5. Remove the 2 bolts the support the intake on the backside of the mainfold. Helps if the car is raised up.
6. Remove the any tubbing attached to the manifold. VTCS and VICS can stay attached along with PCV system.
7. Disconnect coolant hoses and accelerator cable from the throttle body.
8. Remove the 7 bolts where the manifold is attached to the Cyl. head. The bottom left one and bottom right one will be tricky to remove.
9. At this point the manifold should be able to remove, CAREFULLY lift it up and make sure that the only thing attached is the EGR tube.
10. Remove the intake manifold.
11. http://flatblack.somethingsomething.org/p5/porting/vtcs.html Used this to remove the butterflies. 5/16 tappe works great for the treads where the VTCS modulator was.
12. Make sure that the Manifold and the cylinder head are clean of debris and old gasket material.
13. Reinstall in reverse order.
14. Manifold should be torqued to 14 ft. lbs.

Pretty sure thats all i had to do. Make sure to top off coolant cause you will lose some. I left the holes in the runners open.

I thought that was you, your car looks familiar. I was going to get rid of it for An FD Rx-7, but i ended up buying the Fc rx-7 that is now sitting in my driveway for $100. Bought it from a guy i work with, needs new motor but body in in great shape. Protege is doing well, waiting for tax money to pull the Cylinder head and have some fun with that. I'm buring oil, pretty and i'm sure it's through the valve stem guide seals. Oh well.

umm try to remember that you'll all probably need to get a new gasket unless you'd like a nice leak in vacuum

it wont produce any lights unless you have a vac leak, in which case your car will run bad anyways
