Video RX-7 vs. F-350 Turbo Diesel

I bet that truck is running propane and nitrous or something that is fast for a heavy ass truck!

The truck is a Ford F350, but the Powerstroke engine was removed and replaced with a 12V Cummins. From what I understand it has a twin turbo setup, bigger injectors, and a fueling box. It wasn't running any drugs (aka Propane or NOS).

Here's the more detailed specs for people who are interested:

1995 F350 XLT 4X4 CC LB SRW Built E4OD by BTS with Baumannator controler. 12 valve Cummins with ported head, Piers race pump & Camshaft, 370 injectors, twin turbos@ 95psi boost 800 rwhp on #2 only 4.10's, Detroit locker, 36" PJ dirtgrips

wow 95 psi. I only want 16% of that amount of boost. ie 15psi for the mathematically challenged

It would be cool if you could import a euro spec turbo diesel from a protege and swap it into the MSP. Then you could have all the boost you want and get close to 50MPG.

what's all that black smoke coming out the back??? Was it running rich??

It's unburned diesel. When you up the fuel pressure in increase the injector size in a diesel, you will have more black smoke.

yeah, the peterbuilt that I sometimes get to drive is a black smoke billowing MFer

Haha, most Peterbilt rigs have a Cummins Turbo Diesel under the hood just like my Dodge Ram and the truck in that video.

Honestly I have no idea what he spent. But it's not too expensive to mod a diesel. He probably spent somewhere between $7000-10000. Heres an example of what some of the stuff costs.....

Fueling Box ~$900
Injectors ~$1100
Twin Turbo Setup ~$3500
Fuel Pusher Pump ~$400
Exhaust System ~$500-700
Intake ~$250

The fueling box alone is the most cost effective mod. I can get a fueling box that adds 150HP to the wheels and 500lb ft torque to the wheels.

I would hope that with a near 6 liter engine they could do well. They should. Give me a 6 liter rotary and see what I pull.

They also weigh between 7500 and 9000 lbs. :D

that was a n/a rx7 not really a fair race =), but none the less, a fast freakin truck..he isnt lifted on bigger tires is he? if so he could get better times
