That is one sharp intake!

its crinkle red. my intercooler piping, intake piping and turbo cold side are all the same color. my valve cover is crinkle black and my intercooler is matte black with the red mazdaspeed logo in the center...i cant wait to see it all together! and just to update everyone...all im waiting on is the balance shaft delete kit. once that arrives, its going to get timing done and then everything is going back into the car for the first startup. as it turns out..the arp studs dont clear the balance shaft so it was either notch it out or just delete. so anyone with a build coming up, keep that in mind.

So youre not running it on an engine dyno first for tuning?

im going to ask my builder what i should do. my plan was to get it started, check for leaks and any defects, etc... then i was going to load it on a trailer and take it down to agile motorsports in maryland for tuning. i assume that i would do a very mild tune for break in...and when i say mild, i mean little to no boost for the first 1000 miles or so. barring any set backs, then id go back and get my more aggressive street tune and see what she can really do. The turbo is rated to 600hp and the internals can handle the power, plus i have every motor and tranny mount to the stiffest durometer and a clutch that is going to be a PITA lol so im hoping to put up high yet safe numbers.

Just for your sake sir!
We had 2 MS3 builds this spring. First is mine and second is my buddy's. We both went 2871, were happy for a while... Until our turbos got totally damaged. Huge shaft play, in/out and up/down. Mine hit on 5K miles, his - on 7K miles. We disassembled it and found abrasive layer on bearings and shaft. Taht was due to very very tiny metalic dust from new piston rings.
Now I am running my old PG turbo, he is running another used 2871. No problems so far.
So I would hardly advice you to make 1K mile break-in on an old turbo, and only then swap to BT.

slight set back today...get this...someone broke into my car at the shop and stole my passenger side mirror, passenger side side skirt, my hood and my power akoustik 7 inch double din touch screen...WTF. luckily the shops insurance is covering everything and they are even trying to get me a new CF hood :) oh and the best part...all of the bolts were still there from the mirror and all of the dash trim around the head unit was removed properly and the screws and clips were unaffected lol. someone knew what they were doing.

so now i have no clue when the car will be finished. the motor is pretty much finished, but now i have to wait for all these other parts and insurance to cut me and my friend (shop owner) a check. so i got this to hold me over...

^^^^sweet bike. I had me a gixxer 600 same year...even solid painted it like that one (see avatar)

thats why i did a double take. I saw those pics and your location and immediately wondered where mine went to

i know everyone is anxious to see the end results, especially me lol. just waiting for insurance to cut me a check for all of the items stolen off the body and then its going back together.
