Ventpod Group Buy Feeler!

I have several designs that do angle the gauge toward the driver. However, none of these are in circular shaped vents. The problem with angling is that it increases the cross-sectional "area of interference" with the flow of air. That, and it often necessitates the need for secondary action in the tool, which adds sustantial cost.
That being said, I will look into that. If I can get 5-10* of angle in there without any big issues, we may just go that way. ;)

Thanks for the replies and suggestions!! Keep 'em comin'! (thumb)

We need to get to 100 units spoken for!

I'll speak for a friend with a '07 MS3 GT, he'll want one. I'm not sure he gets online much to catch this stuff.

Elbows-High (Jim) has contacted me about AV status but has not completed the process yet...NOTE: This means he does not have AV status at this time so this thread must remain a "GI" thread until AV status is obtained.

That said...I think it's a very cool product and I hope Elbows-High does become an AV on Mazda Forums...Subbin! :D

Absolutely Antoine! That is the goal. Once we get to 100, I will complete the AV process and we can start actually selling these bad boys. ;)

I'm confused..

We need a 100 people to say that they're interested? Or 100 orders prior to molding? Not to say anything negative against anyone, it's just experience watching these types of threads that of the 100 or so that may say they'll take one, about 30 may actually follow through..

That said, put me down for two either way. I hope to see these get made.

angled and I'm in.

What about using a smaller gauge so that you could get more of a deflection?

Doc, I totally see your point, and I agree. These "commitments" need only be verbal for now. Once the 100 units are officially spoken for, the next step (after gaining AV status) is to secure 50% of the cost from each buyer. That will enable us to launch the tool. When the tool is finished, we will run the first batch of parts. I will then ask the buyers to complete the sale by sending the remaining funds. As soon as those funds (on an individual basis) hit my door, I will ship the parts to those individuals who have completed the sale.

As you may already know, I supply Roush with their VentPods. It is my patent pending design that is being manufactured and sold through Roush exclusively. I fully intend to bring this Mazda product to market as soon as possible. Due to financial commitments, my personal investment dollars are tied up in the Roush deal, for now. This 'group buy' deal will enable us to bring the Mazda design to market much quicker than would normally be the case.
I can assure you that I am not a fly-by-night entity. This concept is my baby, and my goal is to proliferate the market as much as possible, as fast as possible.
You all are key in that endeavor! (thumb) Thanks everyone!

-Jim

Anyone know if the left driverside vent is the same between the CX7 and Mazda 3?

I'm looking into whether this is the case or not. My initial reaction is that the CX-7 may be the same as the Mazda 6. That being said, I'm already working on a design that will utilize the Mazda 3 design in the Mazda 6, so if there are any 6 owners that are interested, please lemme know. ;)

Here's an image from my CAD software. Obviously, it will not be molded in orange, LOL!
