"Exhibition of speed" I believe its called. Revving, breaking the tires loose, or just accelerating faster than a soccer mom.

The law firm that proposed all of this mostly represents traffic violations (reckless, DUI, etc). So more money for them and more money for our cracked out legislators.

I can't wait to move out of Va.

I would be willing to bet that they are talking about when you run from the police or while street racing. You have to be doing something that warrents a felony. Other wise it's a mistemener.

Well it sounds like the only places this will probably be enforced heavily is in NoVa, Richmond, and maybe Va Beach. With all the traffic in NoVa they are probably going to hitting folks with the whip on failure to signal, reckless, etc. Small towns I seriously doubt will enforce some of these. I agree though, failure to signal is a bit excessive?

w00t Blacksburg... Again, I don't think if you fail to signal while changing lanes is going to land you with that $1k+ fine - in fact, I'm almost positive. I think this has to be in conjuction with reckless driving.

So for every traffic ticket does it add a civil penalty?? Like say loud exhaust is normally an 80 dollar ticket. Would it now be 380?

haha seriously and i thought that laws in PA were bad...but now i know we have it pretty good here....I got a speeding ticket on 95 for going 32MPH over the limit several years back (dont flame me, i was younger and stupid...we've all done things we regretted) and the fine was supposed to be 5 points (6 points is automatic suspension in PA) and like a 200 dollar fine...fortunately i went to court and had no prior moving violations so they dropped it to going 10 mph over for a 180 dollar fine and 2 points.

i dont think i have to worry about laws getting any worse here for some time. for simple moving violations the fines are cake...and they wont ever raise them because the old people will never let it pass because of the thousands of dollars they would have to shell out annually because of their lacking driving skills...

i dont think i have to worry about laws getting any worse here for some time. for simple moving violations the fines are cake...and they wont ever raise them because the old people will never let it pass because of the thousands of dollars they would have to shell out annually because of their lacking driving skills...

Well I had to call and ask. I called this Richmond Police # Richmond Police Department - (804) 646-4105 - 200 W Grace St

And was givin to a guy named Miles. He laughed at me and asked if I was for real!!! I told him where the bill info was and he said he has never heard of anything about it. He also stated that when a new law is PAST that they send him the information to pass around. So I don't know. He's not heard of it. He did add that it very well could be for things such as prostitution. He said alot of times they can't get the hookers on anything but they use the failure to signal to catch the JOHNs. He said that this may very well be what it is intended for IF it infact is true.

So I guess before you get to up in arms I'd make a few calls to see if it really did pass.

Another civil penalty is no seat belt. Again that was from Miles.

It did pass - it's all over the news here. I don't believe it has started being enforced yet however. I think it starts this Sunday or something.
