Yes, you heard me right, PAINT!

It's not the true (FYI in Japanese language its pronounced: 'mo-bil-e-o bracku') mobilio black. It's sort of the new thing here in Japan, well it's been around a few years, but its newish as far as a manufacture selling it IMO.

Nice wheels you have there. Yeah, the ones I posted look painted, even the fancy Rx-8 R3 ones, yet a nicer color than the mainstream silver all manufacturers have. I believe the ones for the Premacy I posted earlier are a little bit lighter than the Rx-8 R3 ones though

But anyway, I'm sure in Japan is the same, Mazda are known for creative and zoom-zoom, but not really a high end brand (i.e. like BMW), more like Zoom-Zoom on a budget :)

Here's 2010 documentation from the Mazdausa news section:

Glove box light, and the fender mounted turn signal repeater are deleted. Looks like we won't get the mirrors with the additional turn signal indicators from an earlier-in-this-thread pic.

Traction/Stability control. . isn't that what you engage in when you drive?!

IDEA, IDEA, IDEA.... w00t !

Glove box light

Hey thanks for the idea, I've got extra LED wedge bulbs free when the
company sent the wrong color, now I can go to the junk yard, cut out /
off couple parking light sockets off any car, drill some small holes in the glove
box, run wire down to the cig lighter + & - and mount a small switch at
the glove box door. :)

(Got to love Japan, they've got 1,000,000,000 places that selll all kinds of
small gadgets and parts, in tons of stores all over, it's a DIY guy's heaven! (naughty) )

I'll post some pictures when doing/done.

Peace!(rei)

Hey Sgt. Okinawa, you're always in constant motion! I'll like to see that when done. Always good to read your posts even I don't know much about adding gadgets. Keep on!!! (2thumbs)

Thank god I bought my 09 instead of waiting for the 2010. Stability control is a good idea on 15 pass vans , SUVs, and pickup trucks but silly on something that handles as well as the 5. Traction control? Every vehicle with a gas pedal has this built in, wheels spin- lift off the gas. Then again this is difficult if you are texting, applying makeup, negotiating with your kids, making a call AND driving in hazardous conditions. Besides, I like to spin the wheels sometimes, thats why I bought a stick shift.

Please note the lack of moldings and turn signals

It will take take time to get used to the absence of side markers, and moldings.
Somehow I liked it with the moldings. Now the vehicle looks like the ordinary
HHR.. the door panels can now accept those large company logo stickers..

Somehow the moldings have the visual effect of making the mazda5 look thinner lengthwise.

maybe they will offer the moldings as an option.

I like it with the side markers and moldings too! But it looks good too! (headbang)

$$-saving measures, all those deletions. Or else the DSC & TCS hog just enough energy to require the omission of the glovebox light and secondary side markers. As for the body moldings, when every dent occurs at the sheet metal crease below the windowline because dumb SUV back passengers fling their doors wide open, what's the use of having them...But I like them otherwise.

About time! The Mz5 has been panned for lacking DSC elsewhere, this ought to sway some Kia Rondo intenders...

Or anyone who knows nothing about Mazda, The 5 doesn't need DSC it's a little baby car and it handels great. Traction Control is a good idea because must will not think to let off the gas if they start loosing control.

ESC (DSC, etc) has been available from the start on the Mazda5/2nd gen Premacy in many other countries and is going to be mandatory for all US cars MY2011. ESC prevents single car accidents by 10-30%, whereas ABS does absolutely jack for real-world accident prevention. Not having ESC would have been a competitive disadvantage for Mazda as most other US vehicles have it standard.

I'd love to have DSC, for the sole reason that the OEM Toyos have pathetic wet-weather traction. I live off a 55mph subdivision and need to get up to speed quickly and wheelspin occurs even with gentle throttle on wet/cold pavement.

I see your point but I have driven my sisters three many times in wet weather and never had a problem with wheel spin. I just don't really think it's needed on a car like the 5 will it help yes, but I don't think it's needed.

if they want safety, they need to incorporate 'scangauge' like function on the mazda5, drivers will be obsessed with fuel economy readings and in effect will have an altered driving habit. I have not observed my toyo tire spin since I had the scangauge.
