mazds5 ts2
Hi there don't know if anyone else has had this problem but my mazda 5 ts2 died on me the other day, it was driving fine then just died like the ignition had been switched off, i got the car towed home and when I've looked at it all fuses are fine all terminals seem clean, I've noticed the fan is constantly running on the radiator when the ignition is on also theres a red car light flashing on the dash with a key shape in it, I have replaced the battery in the key fob but still there is nothing on the key turn IE: no starter motor click or turning over.

So question is does anyone know what the problem could be? and how can I fix it?

Cheers for any info.

Cheers Adam.

Sounds like the ignition is not recognizing the chip on the key...

Have you tried the other key yet?

Hi mazdadude unfortunately I only have one key as I bought the car second hand from a used car dealer. Is there anyway I could get the key recoded?

Assuming it's the same situation in the UK, it's going to be expensive if you only have 1 key - you need to go to the dealer - they need to verify that it is your car and can program your car to recognize the new key. I think some locksmiths can do it, but it will not be cheap.

What does your battery voltage look like?

I was hoping you had another key to help narrow down if it is a key or car problem. (peep)

Honestly, from this point it sounds as if it would be best to go to a Mazda dealer.

There are many things that could be wrong at this point..

key rf id chip, the rf id reader at ignition switch, the body control module,

Cheers guys there's a locksmith near me that do key recoding I might try this before going to mazda and failing that I will have to get an auto electrician to have a look at it.

Hi guys no the locksmith had no luck the key transponder was ok and the immobiliser was fine so he suggested getting an auto electrician to have a look he came Thursday night but couldn't tell it is a wiring problem or an ecu fault. I need to take the cover off the ecu housing and he's going to come back Monday whilst it's light to have another look, worst case I might have to get another ecu and have it recoded.

Well auto electrician has been today he took the ecu to check He changed the dio pack or something in the ecu but it turned over once and started with the same fault so might of blown again pointing to a wiring fault.

Cars fixed local auto electrician company ace remapping sorted it, it was a live feed wire to the ecu that had worn through and was earthing to the chassis.

Think it was live feed in the engine bay that was worn. Probably from when the bottom end was repaired.

You need to buy a TORX wrench. Similar to allen wrench except they have six "points" on the corners. Very common these days in cares and machinery. You can get them in a set that fold up.
