Upgrading springs?

a custom bag set up is a lot of work and can be expensive... i think the Racing Beat springs offer the lowest drop and still provide a nice increase in stiffness...

I was thinking more of just booster bags, not stand-alones. The kind that go in the middle of a coil spring. I wasn't able to find a direct application listed anywhere but if you can find a set that is dimensionally similar to the Mazda3, you can get a kit for around $80.

oh i gotcha... i was trying to figure out how a bagged set up was going to be the answer when they are a 2-4k.... makes more sense now. i am sure between the euro focus, the volvo c30 and s40 and the mazda3 there is a kit some where that will work with our springs thay may all have different rates but i would imagine they are all pretty similiar demensionaly.

Just curious if there are any updates since the last posting. Problem with the rear end still present. I had to remove the stereo equipment to reduce the weight, and that's not a good option.

Air Lift still doesn't have anything listed for the Mazda3 but they do have a bag kit listed for the 2006 Focus. You could look up the spring dimensions on one of those and see if it's close to the same dimensions as a Mazda3 spring.
The kit is Part Number: https://www.amazon.com (commissions earned)

You're gonna have to do some leg work and research here, man. We can only help you so far and the rest is up to you.

I've read this entire thread, as I have a very similar problem. My car's a P5 lowered on H&R springs with aftermarket wheels. When I'm driving alone or with just one passenger I pretty much never have problems, but with a decent load I got the tire wall hitting the rear fender. I've been looking for an inexpensive alternative to putting the stock springs back in, so I was excited to read about the rubbers ... but obviously disappointed to find out that they ended up blowing the springs. My question is this, given that I'm driving on my own most of the time, would I be okay with the rubbers? I thought that the springs wouldn't see so much strain cause most of the time I don't have the added weight.

The prospect of beating my car with a bat just isn't to appealing ... I guess I don't have any good reason against it though.

A problem w/pink cars, Kane?
Perhaps you are just not in touch with your feminine side? (lol) (lol) (lol)

j/k Man. It is pretty bad, but you know how they are in Japan. the gawdier the better in many cases.

Thanks for the videos bbrich ... I just really don't want to do that, although the videos did get progressively less scary (and I'm not just talking about the pink)

Do you think the rubbers are still a reasonable option?

No. I think Brian's situation proved that it isn't such a good option after all.
You'd have to find a springs shop willing to custom wind some springs, which with the OE spcs in hand should not be that hard. Expense? Well.... that would largely depend on the shop.
The other is bagging, which is not a bad alternative, imo. Very good ride, while having the ability to adjust the vehicles suspension. And if you aren't slamming it, should not be that hard to do for someone experienced in modding/bagging.
Just my .02. (again.) (lol2)

yeah, I know I gotta do some research on my own at some point, but if someone with a similar problem has already addressed the issue, why reinvent the wheel? :)

Bagging is probably the best alternative, but the shops around here (Des Moines, IA) don't seem too interested in doing something like this, and the one or two that are, want an arm and a leg.

Now, I'm not sure what I'm gonna do. My '05 has ~60k miles on it so I'm debating on modding the rear end to put my audio system back in, or sell the car and get a newer one (maybe a speed3, or an STi).
