Upgrading fuel pump

that's too bad, I just saw this, and would have been in if we could have gotten enough people for a decent price.. ill just wait I guess till sometime this summer for it, car's doin pretty good so far, but worth getting sometime soon, figured now would have been a good time with a GB... oh well

A walboro is probably the first modification i would do in a turbo car. When it comes to tuning for more boost, even when your injectors are sufficient, the factory fuel pump can cause a lean condition that makes it look like your injectors are maxed out, when really its the fuel pump that cant keep up.

I think this is what is happening to me at higher RPMs.

Is the problem around 5000rpm? If it is I have the same problem..

Yes. That's exactly when it starts.... no matter how much fuel I add. Also, if I compensate for this, by adding fuel there, it makes me too rich in the higher gears when I mash the throttle. I need to hook my fuel pressure gauge up again, so I can get the readout.

If you decide to go with the meth kit you shouldn't need to worry more about leaning out, you'll have to instead pull back fuel on the injectors right? That's what im hoping for.

I think that is one advantage of the Alky injection. You just have to make sure you have the right wideband to tune with (has Lamda readout).

Or just adjust air/fuel for gasoline to compensate... Unless you're running straight gas, methanol, etc. you're going to have to do some conversion with air/fuel ratios or lambda because they all have different stoichiometric ratios. Just saying, a wideband that outputs in lambda doesn't solve the problem, it just makes the conversion a little easier. I believe JDM Sam mentioned something along the lines of 11.9:1 being a good air/fuel ratio to shoot for for a 50/50 water/methanol injection setup.

I received my pump from PG today. I opened the box expecting to find the "complete fuel pump kit" including "all drop parts, accessories and installation instructions", and an "inlet filter that meets or exceeds original equipment specifications and provides improved filtration and durability." However, all that was there was a pump in a plastic bag and some paper wadding.

Am I to take it that this pump is a direct replacement for the stock pump, right down to the wiring harness, or is my "kit" missing parts?

thats all your supposed to get, Ken from PG was supposed to change the description on the PG website, I had the same concern a month or two ago when I got mine and pm'd him to find out the deal. The walboro is almost a direct replacement...

The walboro is a bit taller than the stocker and will need a tiny bit of modification to the white cap that holds it in place, basically just a small section of the cap needs to be cut to allow the top of the pump to poke through and the bottom of the cap still "clip" in place. Theres a thread on it somewhere, maybe even in the how-to...

Just be really careful with the six screws accessing the pump, they strip easily, so be sure you have the exact phillips head and apply even steady pressure, also, since it didnt come with a "kit" be really careful taking off the filter and o-ring type pieces.

Thanks for the reply. I really wish I had known that I was only purchasing the pump, since I could've got it for $30 cheaper from almost anywhere else.

I brought that point up to him as well, just message him and you guys will work something out!
