I've had this 'vision' for a while now with what I've wanted to do. I've done a number of variations in Photoshop to get a better idea of what it'd look like. I decided on specifics and finally got the parts painted and picked them up on Friday. I've had that lip well over a year waiting to get painted with other things. I'm happy with how it turned out overall. There's something I wanted to do with carbon fiber side skirts, but didn't get around to it. I somewhat regret not getting the half carbon lip from DG, but oh well I guess. I'd like to add a carbon fiber trunk also. Not sure if I'll get around to that either.
My pics are horrible, I apologize. I had to edit the crap out of them to make them look that good even. I didn't have a tripod in that warehouse which was unfortunate. In any event, what I did was paint the center portion (along the lines) of a Fiber Images carbon fiber hood, DG Motorsports carbon fiber headlight covers painted except an eyelid portion (to match the hood), DG Motorsports urethane lip, DG Motorsports grill w/ Mazdaspeed badge. I also had an extra set of taillights painted to match the lack of headlights being exposed. For regular street use I've got a regular carbon fiber eyelids. I wanted a less "off the shelf" look, that's why I painted that much of the hood. I painted the center portion because I've only seen that done a few times. Painted the sides has been done countless times and I really didn't think that'd look as good. I also had a chance to do the headlight cover match thing painted it this way. I had a carbon fiber grill before this setup, but I thought body color would look better with the other things they way they are.

After I get some real nice quality pics I'm going to remove the vinyl (not really my thing so much) and add orange marker lights and be done with the body. I'd like to get some black w/ red stitch seats and be done with it. The vinyl matches the GT Spec suspension bars almost perfectly. I matched the colors w/ samples. I've got a thing for having stuff match and flow together.

I'd say re-do the vinyl in black... same pattern as it is now. That would really go with the hood nicely.

Looks good man.(thumb)

How do the headlights and taillights work? Is this just for show or does the light shine through?

nice, red graphics are ok, not the best. since you're going for a blended stealth look, the graphics can match better by being dark grey or carbon fibre looking.

Or how about in carbon fiber vinyl! haha.... nah, It'll be red or nothing. The old graphics I had before had a flat black drop shadow which I wasn't able to do this time unfortunately.

The headlights are not functional with these covers. That's why I have an extra set of regular carbon fiber eyelids... for daily use.

The taillights do shine through some, but are still not legal for the street. I was having things painted anyway so I had a set of taillights done for shows and pictures. The car is being featured in a magazine shortly and I wanted to do a few things that are not commonly seen. Taillights are not needed in pictures at shows and in pictures so I wanted try eliminating them. Just an idea I had and it wasn't much more to have a few extra little parts painted.... Experimenting if you will.

I'm going for a matching, flowing look more than anything. A race inspired feel. And that has been achieved as far as I'm concerned... Well, besides the stupid stock seats. But everything matches and there's nothing that's random on the car at this point. The suspension bars match the graphics (had them all powdercoated), I've got accessory gauges that are direct matches of the factory colors, and other such things. Grey/charcoal, red, and black all around.

I would never ever ever use fake carbon fiber... especially for graphics.

Last week I was thinking about using more of that same color vinyl and putting it on the center portion of the wheel spokes. I've seen it done in black before, but I'd like to see how crazy it'd look in red. Probably be over the top, but would be interesting to see what it'd look like.

It's all about experimenting and trying things in my book.... I've never been a follower when it comes to cars. I like to try things and change it back. My personal preference is clean and pretty subtle. As I said, I'll be removing the graphics in the next couple months. I'll let the actual mods enhance the car oppose to add on stickers/color.
