Update on protege Supercharger!

What if you designed some kind of supercharger that, instead of running off the engine belt, used the force of exhaust gases to spin a turbine that pumped air into the engine. Of course, it would require the design of a new exhaust manifold, but we would be able to keep our a/c. I think that would be pretty sweet. (wiggle)
I like the idea of a turbo charger that's driven by a belt attached to your engine so that it gives you instant boost instead of making you wait for it. Also, this novel idea of boost application will raise your intake temperature only 20-30* instead of 150*, and because of this, your car will be more efficient because your oil wont be running through a scaldingly hot chunk of metal under your hood.

hmmmm...or...we could hook up a gas powered leaf blower to the intake. It is completely self-sufficient, so it wouldn't heat up the engine compartment, wouldn't heat up the oil, and wouldn't create any power drain to the engine. So you have the leaf blower in the passenger seat, with a tube running to the intake. you control the output of the blower yourself so you can adjust the boost, or only use it in spurts...yay

HAHAHAHAHA!! I've seen something like this, except it was an electric blower mounted in the engine bay of a cavvie. I laughed for many an hour.

Update:

And in a related story I will be driving up from Alabama to Ohio on thursday so Dave and I can finish this project this weekend. He'll be able to use my car to get exact measurements since his still retains the ac and mine doesn't.

Dave came through in a pinch. This speaks volumes about him and his character.
After weeks of the SC project being in limbo its finally settled. As soon as roddimus gets back from his 12hr road trip up to ohio for fitment at daveb's shop all the numbers will start rolling in. All I have to say is that some big time dedication for roddimus to drive 12hrs each way to help daveb finish things up.

This much torque is bad for auto x-ing without an LSD. Understeer right off the track.
That is where momentum and smooth acceleartion is key...

well if there is too much torque for auto-x, then forget those 15" wheels and slap on some 17s or 18s with the widest tires possible...the weight of the wheels will help reduce understeer, but give you much more grip....and since you're going to be in modified classes anyway, get some slicks
