Update on protege Supercharger!

Well we looked into the option of an electric power steering pump. The AC wouldn't be relocated anyway, it's already at the bottom of the block, relatively out of the way.

The problem with this option is that we're afraid that if the AC ever kicked on while you were boosting, the strain on the belt might be too much for it to handle, resulting in a shredded belt and a ****** up engine. Removing the AC is just the best solution for reliablity, ease of instalation, efficiency, etc.

sorry, maybe I misread, I thought i read that with a combination of powersteering and bracket relocation the AC was planned to be kept on DaveB's car.

DUnno

The powersteering is being relocated to where the AC compressor was and Dave's making a new bracket for that entire side of the block including mounts for the blower and ps pump. AC's still gone though.

The reason why the a/c HAS to be removed has been covered multiple times and the explination is in the first page of this thread. If you want to keep your a/c dont buy this kit.

One of the things I want to look into is the A/C compressor off of a Honda hybrid. Its my understanding that those compressors have an independent motor to keep the system running when the engine shuts down at stops. Might be a work around.

yeah, honda hybrid parts are very cheap and readily available!
Hey, everyone mocked Ben Franklin when he flew his kite during a storm. Look where he got !! ;)

I never said it was a perfect idea; I just said it was something to look into.

Looks good. Now hook everything up...

What header is on that car? Will the kit run with the stock manifold?

Will it sound that loud with all of the piping on it?

Looks cool though.

I admit, this development seems badass.

But, to those more experienced in the FI community, when matty originally explained that this was comparable to 15psi on a t3 turbo when @ 6psi on the Bd-22. Is that not wayyyy too much for stock internals?

damn i just noticed in the pics the piping is gonna go right in front of the header. Maybe he will include a heatshield to help temps
