Uh oh, gas pedal breakage - anyone?

Before someone else jumps in and is a dick to you, this has been posted before here. Just so ya know. :-)

In any case, our pedal it made of metal I'm pretty sure. So hopefully, this won't happen to us.

gas pedal failure = pain in the ass.
brake pedal failure = possible death, undoubtedly unforgetable experience if death does not occur.

if someone posts on brake pedal failure, then i might take notice. gas pedal? meh, duct tape will fix it.

Wait...why would someone jump in a "be a dick"? I was just noticing how very similar our pedals were and wondered if anyone had experience said problem.

//And - YES - My MS3 pedal is VERY plastic - looks almost exactly like that one on the inboard side...so unless mine is some aftermarket replacement or oneoff, I will guess most MS3 gas pedals are plastic -

Its from an evo that was posted awile ago and they were complaining about it not being covered under warranty.

:) Thread Ended

Allow me to give a typical response to a thread topic that's been posted previously.

That is what I'm talking about.

Also, Parkeway, I'd like to see a picture of your plastic pedal. Because I really thought the MS3 had metal ones (at work, I'll check mine later).

I guess that from now on I will have more confidence when racing Evo X's. More than likely, their gas pedal will break before the run is over. (help)

And guess what? Winning is winning!!! (rlaugh)

The brake/clutch are. The throttle however...that's another story.

I replaced my actual alum "plate" with a CNC version that suits my heal-toe better on the track...it was a beatch but the unit comes off with four screws (don't unplug harness - believe me). Turn it over and viola! What you will find is exactly what is seen in that old story from Jalopnik.

Ours at least has a smooth side on the outboard - it surprised me but then I've never owned a car newer than 2001!!!

Sorry that I upset the apple-cart by posting a dupe...and with only 2 posts under my belt too :(

So I ran out to my car to check, camera in hand, and boy was I wrong. All pedals are metal with the exception of the gas pedal. Metal shafts that is.

I doubt you really upset anyone, I was just beating less friendly folks to the punch by informing you that this info has been posted before. No worries. :)

Roger that.

Here's a pic of the plastic pedal from a MS3 incase anyone was wondering.

I guess its better that it broke off instead of getting stuck wide open ( like on all weather floor mats LOL)

lmao...

Mashing the gas pedal to the point of snapping it does not make your engine produce more hp
