Auto parts store perhaps?

Anyone know how much these belts cost?? I am going to be changing the belts my self since the Mazda dealership wanted $100 for the job!

Yeah... labor is not free man. What did you expect? That actually sounds very cheap considering belts cost about $40-50 and dealership labor is usually $100 an hour or so.

All you need to do is drive to an auto parts store and tell them what you need. It's not that big of deal. And if you are installing the UDP at the same time (the part you've been asking about elsewhere) they come with actual part numbers of what you need. I know Unorthodox does, not sure about RR.

I know its not that big of a deal. I was just trying to see roughly how much they were to see if I could afford to fix this problem this month. Also I usually do all mods and repairs my self but I was wondering if my warranty would cover the belt, and if my belt squeaking had to do with the dealership replacing my power stearing pump a couple months ago.

This thread is riddled with the gatorback part numbers on previous pages...............

Just go to auto parts store and tell them what you need. Most of them sell only gatorback. I got mine from Shucks and it was a Gatorback

I have been having horrible luck with squeal with the gatorbacks - so much so that I have gone to belts 1" shorter than the ones suggested in this thread for more adjust room. I think, if I max out these belts I am just going to go with the Gates belts as listed on UR's website. Why anyone would anodize a drive belt is beyond me - it makes the contact surface so slick. I wonder if painting or powdercoating would help...?

yeah...ive almost maxed out tightening my ps/ac belt and maxed out the alternator belt, yet it still squeals with the gatorbacks

You have to be doing something wrong... there is no way that's possible.

Are you sure both sides bolts are loose when you are making these adjustments?

Does it get any tighter when you adjust it?

both sides as in the alternator and ps belts?...yeah, they were loose when making the adjustments and they do get tighter as i adjust it...at least the squeal isnt too bad in that it only happens when starting up the car but goes away when the engine warms up...but its still pretty annoying

I installed my PS Gatorback belt yesterday and no squeaks yet. My alternator/WP belt is squeaking though so I will have to replace that one as well.

You'll obviously need to loosen the bolts and shove the pulleys back into alignment. It's not too tough iirc.

so yea this is really confusing. What are the Gatorbacks numbers for the RR racing udp? and how many belts will i need? everyone is throwing numbers but it isnt clear as to which belts go w/ which UDP

Well fortunately it didn't happen over the summer when it was 90 outside. It happened when it was around 50 outside. I drove it on the highway for about 5 more minutes until I exited. I release the hood while I was still driving so that I could get more air in the engine bay and that seemed to help keep the temp below the line but once I got off the exit and slowed down, the temp started to elevate above the H line so I had to stop. I propped the hood open and the coolant in the reserve tank was boiling. My car seems to be okay now. There are no signs of any damage. I don't recommend you driving too far if your belts go that's why I have replacement belts in my trunk just in case. Hate to go through that again.

did the belt actually break?

how to tighten the belts? someone asked before and i never saw an answer. i havent looked at them yet so it might be logic but i havent looked at whats goin on yet. i ordered my rr racing udp thursday and it should be shipping monday via priority mail so hopefully get it on thursday...

also, how can you tell if they are out of alignment?

usually, if the pullies are out of alignment the belt(s) will be off of the grooves. the belt adjusters are on the powersteering pump and alternator, iirc. they're screw type not spring tensioners, so you have to loosen all the bolts on the adjusters and the PS and Alt.
