eunos cosmo type s 20b
Hi All

As promised here are a few pictures these being before and after shots from my 20b
Cosmo Type S ( cloth interior ) which has now been changed to that out of a Type SX ( Leather )

I think it has transformed the car and has given it that real stylish and luxurious interior the car deserves , and lets face it you can't beat the smell of leather can you.

here are the before pics, these were taken in Japan before the car was shipped ( didn't take any myself before the swap )

Thats it for now,, got some more work going on this year too include factory fitted kit to go on but to be colour coded with body,, after the engine has been broken in ( another 700 miles to go ) boost controller and rolling road set up,, it will be interesting to see with the street port re-build and exhaust has added to the HP and Torque figures.

Is it me or is it bloody hard to drive a 20b like a granny,, one eye on boost gauge,, steady !! and the other on the tacho,, trying to get the latter up gently by keeping the boost low,,, christ its hard work lol (spin)

Finally found your thread, Frank! :D

I know you had mentioned posting this thread but I didn't see it in our Cosmo Forum...Just moved it from our MAIN Rotary Mazda Forum to its new home...Great thread & pics BTW! (thumb)

Your SX Leather interior looks to be in VERY GOOD condition...Was it from a low mileage EC? I like the style of exhaust tips you used as well...(thumb) Plus, can't go wrong with Magnecor...They've been around FOR YEARS!

What size piping are you running throughout your custom exhaust system?

Got any VIDS online yet? ;)

Hi Antoine

Thanks for moving the thread for me I realised my mistake after I posted it but did not know how to move it,,

The interior came from my other Cosmo a 13b with only 59k kms on it, it is blue so I think the grey cloth interior from the 20b will actually go well with the exterior colour.

The exhausrt is 2.5 inch with the pre-cat and the main cats removed it has 2 small silencers which are virtually straight through so even with the 2.5 inch system it is very unrestricted,, I will find out when it goes on the rolling road if the exhaust is restricting it but I don't expect it will.

A friend of mine has taken a short video with it idiling but has not posted it on you tube yet but I will let you know when he has,,

I look forward to you posting pictures of the upcoming Cosmo meet you are going to,, I would love to be there,, maybe for the 25th birthday bash eh !!(beer)

update on body mods

Just had the first part of the dealer supplied bodykit sprayed and fitted from my other cosmo 13b and put it on my 20b,,, so I have posted a few pictures.

Managed to get the 3 ROTOR RE badge from a Mazda dealer and fitted it,

bloody expensive for a little badge though,, but had to be done !!

I think the colour coded kit on the front looks pretty damm good,,, but I am bound to say that aren't I

next will be the side skirts and rear spoiler but I think that will be over the winter months now as I want to get some driving done before the summer is over, mind you as July goes it has been more like winter anyway

Antoine if your reading this the side skirts I have are the ones with the illuminated cosmo logo,, are you jealous or what !!

Super Summer Updates...NICE! (2thumbs)

Love the pics, Frank...I'm also diggin' that red color, gives the Eunos Cosmo a very "exotic" flavor...(cool)

Yeah, the badges are expensive...I bought the whole lot including the grill & front badge set as "backup" incase any of them need replacing in the future.

As for the illuminated "Cosmo" logo skirts...Damn right I'm jealous...I've been wanting to customize & illuminate mine for the longest time but between fabrication issues and busy schedules...I'm still rockin' the same ol' non-illuminated stockers...:p Speaking of illuminated "Cosmo" logos...Many of the Cosmos at the 20th Anniversary Meet had very fresh looking ones...They must have done some sort of "Group Buy" back in the day.

Talking about meets...Did you catch my post about the RX-7 & RX-8 Meet? I was the only Eunos Cosmo there and probably the only Mazda rockin' a 20B as well...Got to represent! :D

Looking great!

I recently bought the same body kit but I am waiting for it to arrive from J-land.

I saw a parts brochure on a web site a while ago and it showed all the different options you could buy for your Cosmo from the dealers back in the 90's,,, and the illuminated side skirts were an option you could purchase when buying your Cosmo

I did catch your post and I saw the vid's as well,, I thought the church of the rotary was good one with the bells ringing out in the background very cool

Thanks Berty,, I just saw your post about the kit for your beauty it will look good colour coded,, between Antoine, you and me we may start a trend and all Cosmo's might start getting colour coded kits as in my opinion they look far better painted that way,, but hey each to their own

illuminated logo lenses on sideskirts

Hi All Cosmo lovers,

I have managed to secure another set of sideskirts and other Mazdaspeed kit parts from Mazda Speeder (thanks by the way will save me a lot of work taking it off my other cosmo)

but I thought I would show you all the difference in the logo on the skirt between the illuninated version to the none illuminated version.
The top pictures as you can see look more like a light lens and yes you have guessed it these are the illuminated version.

All I have to do now is use the kit parts I bought and swap over the rear section of the skirt where the logo / lens is ( sounds easy I hope it is)

Antoine at least you can see the difference in the 2 versions now and I will be your guinea pig to see how easy they are to wire in etc,,,

Another update on my little baby is that I have had it in for its first service since the engine rebuild and have had the boost controller fitted, however it has made my engine warranty void so as a precaution I have not had it set up on its maximum (safe) level of boost as reccomended for the 20b and will leave it that level for another 500-1000 kms,
having said that I am still impressed with the response of the turbos and I quite agree with Antoine the difference in the 2nd turbo coming on line is very impressive and pulls so strong.
It is the 1st time I have heard the new exhaust note at above 2500 rpm and it sounds lovely (inside the car anyway) I will try and get a video of it done at passing speed and post it here.

I really want to change the ecu for the version I was talking to Dave at DMRH about but I really cant afford to do it at the moment and with the exchange rate being so crap it is a real expensive mod,, but I have not given up on the idea and could do with a lotto win (not forgotten about it Dave just one thing after another taking up my hard earned cash) bloody house jobs and repairs,,

I also want to change the rims next year to 18s I have seen a set I like but really want it to fill the arches especially at the rear.

Has anybody ever thought or even tried mixed rim sizes such as 18s front and 19s on the rear???? I know it was a tuning trick with american cars but wondered if anybody has tried it with Japanese cars,, worth a debate I think if it could work,, appreciate some feedback

Regards
ps Sorry Antoine I dont mean to rub your nose in it with these sideskirts,, honest !!
