one remember i'm doing this in my own garage with simple hand tools. so i jack up the car and easily i take off the test pipe and simple brace that kinda protects it. then i get to the heat shield and that not hard but not very easy. After that it was time for the mounting brace. And let me tell it this is any indicator of what the rest of the install is going to be like god help.
after using my heat gun on the bolts till they were almost red hot, i could only manage to break one lose, and now my back is and chest muscle are telling me to stop.
So after about 6.5 hours i am finally done!
I called txs and asked for help because i didn't have instructions they took my number and haven't called me back yet. So I called steetunit because i'm a customer of theirs with the rear engine mount. I basically say i'm not using your part but i have bought stuff from you before can you please help me. Cant remember who it was but he said basically you pay more for certain products because of the customer service behind the product, and that i should have gone with a ems instead. I could tell from the tone of his voice that he wanted to say something rude,(as he had every right to)but, he said nicely to post pics on the su forums and he along with those fellow members would help me.
Now i'm greasy and don't have time to do this so I call corksport thank god for these guys. I quickly let them know that i don't have any of their products but i need some help and i understand if they don't want to help me. I catch no flak from corksport and quickly get the assistance i that i dearly needed.
So after spending a extra 80 bucks on tools and renting one i finally get the txs dp on the car. Oh yea don't forget the trip I took to the UCC at Fort Jackson for the nasty cut I got on my finger. I've had stiches before but I actually lost so much blood that I had to sit down!!!
$25 breaker bar
$20 1/2 swivel
$05 14mm deep socket
$03 liquid gasket
$04 pb blaster
$23 in varias ext
rented 02 sockets
To be honest it was like
2 hrs removing o2 sensors, mounting bracket and taking off heat shields, which by the way you have to do.
3 hrs fighting with the bolt and finding varies ext and sockets to break the bolts loose on the turbo.
1.5 to install the new dp and bolt her in.
Driving is so much more fun now, the car was definately beat for the 15 miles on put on the car after the install. The exhaust has a nasty growl to it, and its not that much more loud on the inside. A lil bit of smoke when i get on her, but that is to be expected. Shes smoked pretty good for 5 min and that was it. I HAVE NO CODES AND NO DRIVEABLITY ISSUES!!!!!!
All and all i'm glad i did it so far, and i'm proud to have done this myself with out paying somebody.
please and if you guys choose to do this go with a company that will back you. I've delt first hand with the f u attitude that txs has given. I don't b**** bout companies but i expected alil more from these guys at txs
