Turtle wax ICE..Love it!

Not sure if this is the place to give opinions on a product, but tried some new stuff called Turtle wax ICE today. It is a clear liquid polymere stuff that cleans and polished the paint, leaves a smooth finish and you put it on your mirrors, black plastic, everything on the car. I first did my 2002 Z28 that is silver and came out great, looks like I spent 4 hours buffing the car and took 30 minutes total, wipes on and off a few minutes later. So today I put some on my other car the Mazda 3 Black Mica, it is amazing looking now, I could see blue sparkles in the paint that I never seen before. Makes the paint so shiny and gives a depth to the paint it never had before(better than new). It also totally covered up all the minor scratches. I normally don't post on stuff like this, but it is some amazing stuff. I did 3 cars and still have enough left to do another 15 or more(barely used any). It reminds me of the stuff you spray on tires to make them shine and smells simular, but when you let it dry for a few minutes and wipe it off, it leaves no residue. I used it on everything too, headlights, tailights, antenna,... I went to Turtle wax site and they claim it lasts about 3 months, is a cleaning polish and removes old stuff when you apply another coat. It took me 30 minutes total from start to finish to do the car. I will post pictures up when I take some. Just had to pass this on, it works amazing and is quick. Even if I have to apply it once a month, it is easy enough and works. I did notice, if you keep using the same microfiber cloth it will leave smears, so as long as you use a clean microfiber cloth each time you do your car you should get great results. I may do a claybar on the car next time and just apply the ICE once a month.

that's cool man. black is hard to maintain just cause the scratches are so obvious if you don't maintain the car right. i have a silver mz3 and i use meguiar's deep crystal package which is the soap and 3 step system (paint cleaner, polish, carnauba wax) which gives it a great shine and pops those metallic flakes out. i can't get depth out of my color but the shine and flakes look awesome. it's all about testing and experimenting. like i heard the klass twins (all in one and polymer wax?) is great for black cars. what do you use for your interior? i tried using meguiars quick interior detailer and didn't like it, it left it with a dry look. i like back to black by mothers better, but you gotta buff it good if you don't want that shine (by then im so tired i am too lazy to buff haha)

Here is picture of the Mazda 3.. All I did was went through a auto car wash, went home and put the ICE stuff on in about 20 minutes. You can tell a difference just from my signature picture...best part is now it looks like the car has no scratches. Haven't found anything good yet for the interior, I use this stuff called wax shop LPV on my Z28 and like it, but the 3 looks better flat than glossy.

if it is a polish wouldn't you have to wax after you polish to keep a layer or shiny protection?

I put a layer of this stuff on my friends expedition..it was amazing how fast we got it done..great product

Isn't anything like Zanio, Zanio goes on in multiple steps and is more of a traditional product. The ICE is a synthetic product that polishes and seals all in one step. I wouldn't say it is so much a polish, more of a paint sealer. A traditional polish needs buffed off and then sealed with a good wax. This stuff doesn't require a final wax. It does say on the Turtle Wax site that it can be applied over wax, but to wash it once before applying the ICE. For the few minutes this stuff takes to go on and take off and the final results, it is great. You can get a better shine taking hours to polish, wax and buff out a car, but to get a simular result in 30 minutes, it is well worth it. The spray detailer they sell to use between the regular ICE stuff has clarified carnuba wax and is water based, unlike the regualr ICE that isn't. It is almost like putting a new clearcoat on the car.

sweet. i was wondering about this product. now to find it in our local stores. i haven't seen it yet on our shelves. does it also have that slippery effect after you wax? You know, when you put something on the surface you waxed, it slides off. same w/ water, the water just bubbles right off? thx!

You've got it all wrong about Zaino. Zaino is NOT a "traditional" product, and it is NOT required to go on in multiple steps, it just looks better and better each coat you put on. Probably, the same thing will happen with your ICE.

Zaino doesn't need buffing either, and it is a synthetic product as well.

Zaino gives a better shine than any product I've ever used, and it only took me 20 minutes to throw on a coat on my MSP. Now, with the Miata, I can put on a coat in 15 minutes because there's a lot less surface area.

The spray detailer they sell to use between the regular ICE stuff has clarified carnuba wax and is water based, unlike the regualr ICE that isn't. It is almost like putting a new clearcoat on the car.

Zaino's quick detailer, and especially their new "Grand Finale" quick detailer looks even better than "almost like putting on a new clearcoat".

Like Newf, said, this product sounds to be a Zaino wannabe. Similar application, similar synthetic polish/sealant type stuff. But I can guarantee you that Zaino will give a much better shine. Black cars that have been "Zaino-ed" makes the paint look so deep that you could almost fall into it. It is absolutely INCREDIBLE.

I still don't think it is even comparable to Zanio. On the LS1 forums I have been posting on for 4+ years Zanio is popular, but I have went to the Zanio site and the products don't look simular. I am not saying Zanio wouldn't look better, I can't compare since I never used it. The ICE stuff is oily when going on and clear... I'm not sure if Zanio makes a product that is used on trim pieces, windows, paint, etc all in one step... if it did I probably would have already tried it. Your just assuming they are simular.. I'm still not saying the Zanio wouldn't give a better shine, but I found the ICE to work well in a single step..I have looked at Zanio site and there are multiple steps you need to take to get good results, at least the first time it even says you have to use the ZFX or Z-1.

very interesting...i for one cant see myself spending that kind of cash on Zanio...i may have to give this ICE product a whirl. i personally have been usign Meguires for some time now and am impressed with it...may be time for a change.

30 minutes? sounds perfect for a lazy guy like myself ;)

After you have waxed your car, then wash it once, you can apply the ICE over the wax on there. So if you already have wax on the car, it would probably turn out better. It isn't a wax and I wouldn't even call it a polish even though thats what they claim it is. It wipes on and off and leaves a super slick surface. I would compare it to a interior protectant, even smells simular.

Sounds all kinda gimmicky. They even have a lil informercial on their website. even has the Buy this stuff now and get even more for free! I'll stick to my P21s for now.

I bought the Ice polish and the Ice quick spray detailer. I just waxed with meguiars NXT so i'll have to wait a little bit, probably this weekend, until I "Ice Out" my car.

Let me know how that works out Rio - I just NXT'd my car this weekend and was very happy with the results. Big fan of the Meguiar's products - If the ICE takes it one step further - I'll have to try it.

Anyone found anything worth a damn to clean the windows? The one's on my '06 Mazda3 seem to attract and HOLD every piece of dust that comes near it.

I'm a Zaino man myself, but I don't know WTF you guys are talking about with waxing a car in 30 mins. I take an entire day to do it right. Wash, rinse, wash, rinse, clay bar, wax on, wax off. Then wheels, interior, etc.

That is exactly what I was saying... I never seen anyone say they could do Zanio correctly in 20 minutes. Not sure how it could even be possible since multiple steps are required to get the results. I go to car shows and started showing my Z28 lately, the guys in the club have show only cars(mine is a daily driver) and they spend hours and days polishing, waxing, sealing their cars and they look like glass. I have nowhere near the time and since I drive mine to work 5 days a week a 30 minute fix is what I need and still be able to show the car and it looks like I spent hours doing it. Also, the ICE covered up scratches and is self cleaning. I used NXT before the ICE and I am happier with the ICE for ease of use and covering up minor scratches. The ICE spray works fine for in between the regular ICE treatment, but it is nothing like the bottle ICE and I'm sure any spray detailer could be used instead of the spray ice. You have to use a microfiber cloth or the ICE stuff will leave a wet looking residue, other than that it works great. It works great on the plastic trim and leaves a nice shine like it is new again. The windows look great with it on too, but the site says don't use it on the front window, because it can cause wipers to smear. For $16 a bottle you could do easily 20 cars, so even doing it once a month you would have 20 months of use. I don't think it is the prefect product for everyone, but for me, it's either the ice or I would never have time to wax the car and I hate any residue.

Nice. I've tried so many different products on my Black Mica P5 and they've all pretty much been the same. I love my black car but it is a b**** to keep clean and if this will help cut down on the time shining it up (especially since I have to take it to the bay now) then it's totally worth a shot.
