In defense of the liquid clay product, I used it with good results, but not for it's intended purpose 
A neighbor bought a rough looking work truck, and this stuff was the bomb at cleaning a TON of crap off the old, faded white paint....
Really cleaned the paint well for the small effort involved. MUCH cleaner than regular car wash soap. It was plain NASTY when we started in on it. All kinds of pollen, grime, grease, and road crud all over it.
