PICS BELOW
So I bid farewell to my 2002 VW Jetta... it treated me well. Other than a puncture on I35 doing 85 mph, it was a solid car, but it was nearing 60k miles and some minor things were bugging me... loss of power, engine knocking, all sort of ruckus under braking, etc.... I got $6k for it and decided to get the MS3!!!
I wanted to get the True Red one at first, since I saw some pics in the forums of people driving them w/ black wheels and I think it looks fantastic, but when I saw it in person I just didn't like it as much... still cant answer you why, so I went with Black Mica... my Jetta was black, so not much change. I like the sparkle it has in the paint tho... maybe I'm just seeing things but I think Black Mica pops nicely.
At the dealership it was an all female sales team, and I was a bit dissapointed to find out that I knew more about the car than they did. Actually, it kinda pissed me off. There were a LOT of hiccups during the next few days as the saleswoman kept forgetting things such as paperwork, signatures or money - so I ended up taking over 9 trips to the dealership in 1 week period. By yesterday I was so annoyed at this, I thought I was in MTV's boiling point and expected Ashton Kutcher to run in sometime with a camera yelling YOU GOT PUNK'D!
Alas, no... I promised myself that if I didn't get my car today I would demand my money back and get my car elsewhere. Fortunately, after 2 hours at the dealership I finally got to drive home in it. Another dissapointment was realizing it barely had any fuel in it. Thanks Mazda.
The drive home was pleasant with a grin on my face after overtaking people. I had lunch at my parents' and gave my dad a spin on the car. At first he was enjoying it remembering his old Mercury Marauder with a monster V8 8.0 or something crazy. When we got home, he expressed his concern at how quick the car is.
I just assured him I'd be ok and just thought of what he'd say if he knew I planned on modifying it.
This weekend I'm going up to Austin to visit some college buddies and can't wait to drive it on the open road!
I just hope I don't wrap the car around a tree somewhere
Cheers yall
