Turned in my Jetta for MS3 today

So I bid farewell to my 2002 VW Jetta... it treated me well. Other than a puncture on I35 doing 85 mph, it was a solid car, but it was nearing 60k miles and some minor things were bugging me... loss of power, engine knocking, all sort of ruckus under braking, etc.... I got $6k for it and decided to get the MS3!!!

I wanted to get the True Red one at first, since I saw some pics in the forums of people driving them w/ black wheels and I think it looks fantastic, but when I saw it in person I just didn't like it as much... still cant answer you why, so I went with Black Mica... my Jetta was black, so not much change. I like the sparkle it has in the paint tho... maybe I'm just seeing things but I think Black Mica pops nicely.

At the dealership it was an all female sales team, and I was a bit dissapointed to find out that I knew more about the car than they did. Actually, it kinda pissed me off. There were a LOT of hiccups during the next few days as the saleswoman kept forgetting things such as paperwork, signatures or money - so I ended up taking over 9 trips to the dealership in 1 week period. By yesterday I was so annoyed at this, I thought I was in MTV's boiling point and expected Ashton Kutcher to run in sometime with a camera yelling YOU GOT PUNK'D!

Alas, no... I promised myself that if I didn't get my car today I would demand my money back and get my car elsewhere. Fortunately, after 2 hours at the dealership I finally got to drive home in it. Another dissapointment was realizing it barely had any fuel in it. Thanks Mazda.

The drive home was pleasant with a grin on my face after overtaking people. I had lunch at my parents' and gave my dad a spin on the car. At first he was enjoying it remembering his old Mercury Marauder with a monster V8 8.0 or something crazy. When we got home, he expressed his concern at how quick the car is.

I just assured him I'd be ok and just thought of what he'd say if he knew I planned on modifying it.

This weekend I'm going up to Austin to visit some college buddies and can't wait to drive it on the open road!

I just hope I don't wrap the car around a tree somewhere ;)

Cheers yall

Gratz on the car! One of the sexy colors too! =)

Just don't drive recklessly and your new ride shouldn't even come close to being wrapped around a tree! lol

Congratulations!!

One of the hardest things to look past when buying a new car, is that excitement of a new car. It typically blinds you and forces you to accept certain circumstances you wouldn't normally be okay with (ie. price, salespeople, dealership, experience, service area). The thrill and excitement of the new vehicle is sorta overwhelming. That's why anytime i've ever driven a car I really liked, I'd go back in a week to drive it again and see if that curiosity and excitement is still there.

You really shouldn't have dealt with the way they handled things. There had to be some other dealers who could have done a better job, and matched your dealer trade. Nothing you can do about it now though.

And they owe you a fresh tank of gas. It should be on your paperwork or your invoice sticker on the window as a full tank of gas included with the car.

Thanks :)

I was hanging out with a friend who has a WRX STI also in black and the cars look very similar. it was kinda cool having them parked next to each other.

right on point sir. i always make the dealership feel as if i am 2 seconds away from walking away...

No surprise you knew more than the dealer. I've found that to be the case for a very long time, particularly if the customer does any homework at all.
