I emailed Knight Turbos about their turbo/sc kits for the 2.0 mazda fs engines..................................................this is what they said "Sure,
2.0 FS MAZDA 4-CYL SUPERCHARGER AND TURBO KIT INFO:
The stock 4-cyl 2 0 engines produce between 127 and 135 flywheel hp (98-105 wheel hp). The hp will jump to 200-225 flywheel hp (165-185 wheel hp) @ 5-7 psi with either kit. I always recommend upgraded pistons and rods in the future, and can supply them as well as a stroker kit. This will allow for a lot more boost and power. Each psi of boost will add 10-15 hp, depending on how well the engine is built.
A bone stock FS 4-cyl 5-speed car will run 16.8 to 17.1 in the 1/4. With the turbo or SC kit, slicks, and a good clutch these cars run 14.6 to 14.8 at 92 to 95 mph.
The turbo kit ($3795) include a huge hybrid T3T04 turbo, front turbo header, huge front mount intercooler, mandrel-bent intercooler pipes, hoses and clamps, downpipe, FMU fuel management system, inline booster fuel pump, and braided steel turbo oil supply lines.
Included accessories are:
boost, air-fuel gauges
high flow air filter
high flow exhaust--3" mandrel bent pipe set.
silicone hoses & clamps
aluminum intercooler pipes--$200 upgrade--(available with kit only)
60-1 full race turbo upgrade--$300

The SC kits are $3795, and feature a sheet metal custom blower manifold, pulleys, Eaton 62 CID SC unit, aluminum T-body plenum, By-Pass , and larger throttle body. as well as all the accessories listed above."

Well goooolllllly. Where the hell has this guy been the whole time. Nice to see an actual pic of a completed turbo kit. Price isn't that bad either. Anyone have some money I can borrow. :D

I've heard that Thomas Knight is questionable on quality of parts...Try it if you want, just buyer be ware...

I talked to that guy on the phone for like an HOUR about 2 days before I got my car. I liked his ideas, but his stuff was pricey. I live in NJ, and he's in FL. His kit costs $4K, and to have HIM install it would cost me a ton. He really seemed to push me to have a local shop do it. He said they'd probably charge me $1500 for the install...so $5500 TOTAL for 6psi. WAY too much for me. Seemed like he knew his stuff tho.

Like I already posted in another post (Turbo for people near Montreal) I can get a complete custom turbo kit with Garret T3 turbo, full intercooler, very nice ceramic coated manifold, mandrel bent tubing, mandrel bent full exhaust system for around $4500 canadian (around $3000 US), including installation. Compare to this kit who will cost around $5500 US with the installation, it a real deal!!!

Everyone has been clamoring for a turbo kit for our cars since the first day they were produced. Now that there is one, it's not good enough?
Exactly the reason why the aftermarket will continue to react slowly or not at all to our vehicles. At least the Honda guys put their money where their mouth is!

Is it really built and designed for the FS-DE motor?? It says it was made for the Probe motor or that's the impression I have.

It sounds like he simply took that setup and bolted on to a motor like ours and said there is a kit.

Personally, I looked at his web-site, and his shop pictures don't really impress me much. The place looked thrashed. Now is a machine shop supposed to be spic and span, no...But you could at least make it look like you clean the place up every now and again. Even if it is just for one picture.

Now, yes there is a turbo kit, and if you want it get it. I'm just saying what I've heard. It might be good it might be bad, from what other people have said though, I'm leaning otwards bad.

What we really need are some 1ST HAND experts. Know anyone who has purchased the kit? Also I specifically mentioned the fs-d Protege wHen I emailed them.

Any other thoughts?

I really considered KNIGHT for my turbo before I went custom. So I decided to pay him a visit since I live like 30 minutes away from him. First of all his shop is a garage and shed, and the craftmanship of his products........well, lets say Its not the best if you want to be nice about it. As for Knight he is a real cool dude, super eccentric and has some very intersting ideas. But if you want to buy the kit buyer beware!. I would wait for Bells kit.

Another thing as my turbo is already done and the craftsmanship is super top notch, plus you get a tubular manifold would anybody be interested in purchasing a kit, if I decided to mass fabricate them?? What would you want to pay? And would you be interested in a intercooled and non-intercooled version? Like a stage 1&2 and stage 1 could be upgraded so you dont have do pay so much money up front and build as you go along.
I have custom fabricated 4 turbo kits in the past but never massed produced them. I know there is a lot involved but it is an entertaining thought. I imagine I could have a kit available in a months time ready to sell. Let me know what you guys think.

would be nice...but like always, price will be a factor...if you and bell have similar results, and the craftmanship is top notch for both...the price will be the decision maker....not saying you should sell your s*** for dirt cheap, that would be unreasonable...but you could use your ties in the market to an advantage. how much did your setup cost you? i think bell is gonna be charging at least 4 grand when he makes the kit available to the public. oh yeah...any news on bells kit?

i would be interested, but would need an idea of a price. i will be going to west palm this summer for a month.

While I'm not sure I would purchase, because I need to keep my car stock for autocross, I think it would be best to see the dyno results from your setup first. Once you blow everyone away with that then strike with the "now you can get the same thing in a kit" angle. After seeing your pics it's obvious you knew what you where doing and that you care about quality. You'll have to back that up with price that is not necessarily the lowest, but is a good value, and good service.
Now that I've enlightened you with a little marketing tactic let me say that you should probably have a thoughtfully designed website to sell your products. Email me if you need my help for that.
