Turbo Replacement or upgrade? opinions and help needed.

im new to turbo replacing so bare with me please!
ive searched but it just confuses me more.
point me in the right direction guys??


ok so heres my problem with my current stock setup with 85,000 miles. well the turbo is blowing oil but there is no shaft play at all, but my vics have been stucked closed for about a month, pulled the intake mani to clean it and install it again. Could this have cause the oil in the turbo?
so if my turbo is bad what are my options?
a. find a replacement stock turbo which id say there all high miles now, the car is 8 years old now. so id like to count this one out.
b. a gt28r - just dont know what one fits on our car, they have to many damn turbos with the gt28r name so show me what one?
c. a t3/t4 - what one fits as well? idk anything or how to go about picking out a turbo.
id like to go with the t3/t4 setup cause it fits my budget better but i have no clue where to start or what t3/t4 will even fit on our car, so i would need some help there.

You can get a new stock replacement cheaper than any others.
GT28 bolts right up to your exsisting exhaust manifold and downpipe.
T3/T4 you will have to get new exhaust manifold and downpipe

Now all these statements I have made are not factual, but are what my understanding
 
yes i had a CEL for intake mani stuck closed and it had a ton of carbon build up on it, so i cleaned it and i am going to throw it on the car after my classes.

but dont they make so many different gt28s?
how do i know what one to buy that will fit our car?
 
I am just now getting to the turbo replacement issue here soon. I got my original MSP (#1716) w/95k miles, and the one I just bought (#1205) w/86k miles. #1205 is leaking oil externally so I am thinking about taking the one out of #1716 and dropping it in #1205. #1716 has $5k in parts on it and it is still going strong and #1205 is not far from being stock
 
My car has a hks bov vent to air and hard pipes is the only engine upgrades on my car. Blew the motor swapped it at 75,000 now the car has 85,000 and the turbo has oil all over it.
I am going to build the motor I blew so this would be the turbo for my forged motor so this would be my turbo for my forged motor also.
 
hmm, if ur forging and trying for bigger power gains the t3/t4 im sure is a solid set up. nice to be externally gated lol. im running gt28rs and honestly the boost is like a light switch and every time i get on it i fear it will be the last time i do (not forged).

price wise i think the t3/t4s are more easily had at a lower cost aswell.
 
but how would i go about setting up a t3/t4 turbo on my car?

just help me find a turbo to put on my msp please!

u can rebuild but not really worth it. Id say ur better off getting the Gt28rs thats the one that should fit right on as long as you get a t25 flange.
