Philly, he’s lying to you, or at least misinformed. I only have 700 miles or so on my car, so it’s had limited redline runs (Read: None) but I believe the Fuel cutoff on this car is something above 6750 (Which is the redline).
You guys with some mileage chime in hear, what RPM does the fuel cutoff in 3rd happen at?
I thought I read somewhere the cutoff was above 7 grand, though we make no power above about 6000 RPM. From your description it sounds like a fuel cutoff, but unless your well into the redline, you shouldn't be feeling it yet. Now the fact that you say it only happens in 3rd is the hard part to understand. What would I do?
Check everything under hood; make sure there’s no blockages in the intercooler air flow under hood thing??? Check fluids and look for anything loose on your CAI especially. Then...
Make sure it’s only happening in 3rd gear; cause that the weird part here.
Take her out on a safe road, preferably Daytona International Raceway or some other track. Then try first and see if it does it in first, the fact that our cars don't make power after 6,000RPM doesn't mean revving it to the real rev limiter will hurt it, I'm sure there are guys who are hitting it daily!!! Just ask the 2.3 non turbo guys, same engine but I doubt it falls off so much so their probably up there allot!!

Then try 2nd and 4th (this is where Daytona would be handy, or even a 1/4 mile, somewhere you can go 100 legally and not kill yourself!!!(I know exactly where I would go, close too...lol)
If it really is only happening in 3rd and my dealer were saying nothing’s wrong. I would unhook the negative battery terminal overnight and see if resetting the ECU may fix it(Prob not, seen weirder things though)
If it’s happening in all the gears, it could be allot of things, take it back to the dealer and tell them it happens in every gear, it could be something as simple as a loose clamp or something.
