Can't sleep... must... install... turbo...

come on, do it! :D

I may take the trip out tomorrow. Should only take 2.5 hours at most I figure. I mostly want to make it because there are so many NEPOCers that joined since I went away for school and I'm only back in New England for the week (yay 1 week summer break).

... that and I'll see how much trouble I'm getting myself into as I plan to take a similar step myself in the next few months or so.

Haha, honestly, it's not at all as bad as I thought it'd be. Most of the stuff is pretty straight forward, but like tekkie said, removal is the easy part. All I can say is do as much research as you can and surround yourself w/ as many people who know what they're doing as possible. BUT, if you come down tomorrow, you'll get first-hand research! ;)

Just got my lazy ass up. I'm gonna clean my car a bit 'cause she's filthy from being at my girls barn all the time. Then I think I may take the ride down.

Anyone have any tips for removing the two hidden bolts on the intake mani? I can see em if I look from the side, but trying to get an extension and socket in there is next to impossible. Who's got some tricks up their sleeves??

So that's what I was going to do today haha. Still working on it? I went to NYC because I was bored and when I got there I was like "oh yeah! turbo install!"

Hah, I just got back from that neck of the woods.

Things seemed to be progressing well, I'll let justin talk of his own progress and such though.

were you able to help him out with the mani question...the bolts adn the throttle body?

He had the IM unbolted when I got there, just some difficulties getting it out with the EGR tube still connected, since we couldn't get it off.

Not sure what the deal was with the TB but that didnt pose a problem. Right now the IM is out, and he's working out the oil pressure sender and water jacket tap(or bolt, or whereever the turbo gets the coolant from, i believe).

We were working on the turbo manifold, the threads the studs went into were a little roughed up, so I chased them, but one was giving us one hell of a time, some of an old stud seemed to still be in there. After I broke the tap in the manifold, I thought it would be best for me not to keep going. (i was doing it by hand, and it didnt even feel like it was getting enough resistance to snap...but it did) His dad got that out, and I think he went to Home depot/Lowes to get some good drill bits to held take out the old stud left in there

Oh, and he called you about the PCM, right after I had the bright Idea to just follow the harness..and found it rather quickly as you probably would assume...i got a nasty cut on that metal sheild it bolts to though.

AND this is why i didnt want to say anything, i get waay to excited and ramble on tooo much

LMAO! Yes it's true, john's the man. Thanks for comin over and helping out dude, VERY much appreciated. And yea, one of the studs gave us a hell of a time. (I took the fall for breaking the tap for ya ;) Not that it matters, I'm just gonna get another one anyway. No one around here has one for metric, but one of my buddy's that came by after john had left has one he's gonna bring over. I finally got the IM off as he said, what a little b****! I got the bolt out for the water feed and took off the t that my oil pressure guage was hooked up to for the oil feed. Ran the vacuum hose for the boost guage, installed the ecu. Still working on removing the oil pan slowly but surely, don't wanna damage anything while prying it off, what a seal on that sucker! After I finished all that s*** and cleaned up, I took a ride up to Tony's house to help, or I should say, watch him take off the MAM hardpipes, sri, and fmic. Gotta go to mazda tomorrow morning before work and pickup an IM gasket since the old one was s****, and hopefully the check valve I need as well. Dunno if I'm gonna get much done tomorrow as I have to work 11-730, but I plan on mounting the fmic after work. I'm just beat from working on this day and night the past two days. I'll post some new pics in a few, first, I need to take a damn shower! :p

More pics!

ya, that is the sharpest piece of metal...i think they do that on purpose so you don't mess with the ECU..hahaha!
