Turbo for Mazda3 2.3L

Has anyone done or started a turbo project for the 2.3L Mazda3? Since this engine is fairly new, I cannot find any turbo kit companies even talking about releasing kits yet, much less having one out.

After surfing on Focal Jet and Clubfocus, several people have turbo'd the Duratec 23's, so maybe we can hope that at least the mechanical parts will be useable on the Mazda3.....

HiBoost is/was working on a kit for the 2.3L Mazda6. Its the same engine thats in the 3. I don't know about clearance issues though...and even worse, i haven't heard any more updates on the 6 turbo...

Yeah, that'll be the day. I totally bow down to the folks who have the time, money and intestinal fortitude to put out a turbo kit. I have the balls, but not the money, time or knowledge. Does one out of four count???

We developed a kit for the Mazda6 with the 2.3 liter. We haven't released yet to the US until we can get our hands in one car to do the tunning for the F10X on the US Version. We are working also on the intercooler piping for the Mazda3. Everything else is the same as the 6.


The kit comes with a cast iron 4 into 1 manifold, Garrett GT30R turbo (Ball Bearing) Haltech F10X fuel management, Front mount Intercooler and everything to bolt it on the car.

We will post once it is mapped and ready to go. It might post some pictures of how it looks on the 6.

This is how the kits looks on the Mazda6. We will have a choice of turbos with the IHI VF22 for the 2.0 and the Garrett GT30R for the 2.3.

It should look pretty much the same on the Mazda3.

yah im real curious to see the numbers but im sure they still have a bit of playing with the kit and alot with the ecu left to do before any real final numbers could be posted.

With a little extra displacement over our fs engines id hope for somethin near 220-240whp range but one can only hope now.

btw mazdaspeed is putting out a 6 with the 2.3L, hp estemated at 275, But that has other engine work. I would guess the a turbo 3 to be around 240 250.

Yes, our car made 240 WHP at 7.5 lbs of boost. Remember that WHP is not the same as HP. Usually 30 to 40 hp are lost when dynoed at the wheel.

The stock Mazda3 makes 131 whp and the factory claims 175 at the flywheel.
