Tuning my mp3

AAAAHHHH!!!!!

Mazda MP3, Laser Blue Mica
I just picked up my mp3 last month so it has about 9k miles since I bought with 6k.(I love driving it) I am planning to do some mods to it. I was wondering what should I do first? I'm planning to go N/A and maybe, MAYBE do the FS-ZE swap after I get in to my Vehicle Research program at my college. So I was looking to do a clutch and flywheel first or should I lower than an intake for now? This is my budget for the year for my car. I have about $400 to spend so maybe, clutch and a flywheel might be out of the question..... So far I only got on suggestion:

TEIN S-Tech Springs and either an AEM intake or INJEN intake...

I would say go with the INjen intake...for the money u are willing to spend, prolly ur best bet, and as for springs, from what I understand the teins will not be ur best choice, as they offer a lower or softer spring rate than that of the stock mp3 suspension

-suspension
*ground control adjustables, they come with eibach springs.. drop from .05'-3'.

-Performance
*intake system, u will feel some power, car will b louder.
*Flywheel
*bolt on exhaust, more power, deeper louder exhaust.
*testpipe, eliminate cat, free up exhaust
*headers, free up exhaust

-Other
*engine mounts, much better starts off line.
*Clutch
*shortshifter setup.

you could get like 1-2 things out of this list wit 400 bills

injen intake runs about $200,
i got a new muffler for $200,

i'd do the intake and lower for now...

I was reading up and some HC pistons for the FS motor. They are mazdaspeed HC pistons with a 10.7 to 1 ratio. They cost about $79 per piston. So I was just wondering if neone has gotten them and what they think. They are at http://www.srmotorsports.com same as for some mazdaspeed Intake and Exhaust cams.

Tangamandapio425, GO FOR IT!!!

Lets see how much power can you produce with those mods.
I still have this little spine bothering me on going N/A again but with nice mods.

I c that you botched my name..... lol j/k... But to be honest i am surprised at the price of the mazdaspeed pistons. However, the pistons will be next year's mod. I still gotta make payments. :-(... So right now i'm am content with the racing beat springs because I like the stiffness of them. However, I'm still going to get the Intake and try and look for stiffer springs than the racing beats. I'll just bring my car to my college's shop and try and learn more about the MP3 then decide what else to get besides the Intake. I'm hoping that the MS Pistons are good since they have a 10.7 to 1 ratio....

BTW, are the mazdaspeed sport springs ok? They provide a 1.5"-2" drop. Also what about headers, cuz i knoe i'm goin to pick up an injen intake, i just put a PVC tube just as a temp replacement.

keep in mind that you own a MP3 and that you already have racing beat springs which are the same ones used on the mazdaspeed pro. if you want to see a substantial drop get the spool springs or the new ion race specs. do a search on these to determine if this is what you want/need.

the only way to go as far as headers right now is AWR. Racing mazda has one but it needs to be slightly modified and there is a shorty header floatin around somewhere.

I hope you know that i'm talking about acctual MAZDASPEED parts not parts of the mazdaspeed protege. Besides, i'd rather get the race springs for 100 more. I'm acctully going to wait till spring time to get them. as for mods on the way, i'm just going to go intake header and straight pipe, the raidius for the racing beat exhaust is almost perfect for all motor. So i'd rather keep the stock exhaust but just route the piping so its less restrictive.
