tunersteve's 2011 Mustang GT thread

These are the wheels I'd like to get down the road. FRPP sells them in a 19x9 and 19x10 staggered set, which I would probably go with. GT500s with the optional SVT performance package got 19x9.5 fronts and 20x10 rears in the same style:

ford realy stepped up in 2011 with the new 5.0 coyote engine. made me fall in love again. the 1st time was in 03 when the cobra came supercharged.

I drove an 03 Cobra several times. Such a fun car to drive... but I found that my MSM scares me more than it did. Don't know why.

sexy wheel is sexy. liking that spoke design.
they SVT offered or MADE?

Std. equipment on a GT500 with performance package. FRPP offers them in slightly different sizes, which will probably be the ones I pick up. Not to mention forged and an OEM wheel, doesn't get much better than that.

The 03-04 Cobra is such a "rough" car compared to the 2011 GT and even the GT500. It's amazing what they've done with this car in such a short time.

Weird. Seems like the extra power would worry you.

I thought the same thing... but I think there were a few things that caused it.
Mustang was heavier
Gear ratios were taller, especially the rear end so even with the extra torque, it seemed more composed.
Longer wheel base with the Mustang so when the rear did kick out, it's easier to correct.
Much wider tires on the Mustang. 295's in the rear, 275's up front, vs. my 205's all around.

~200 whp (on a Mustang dyno) in a 2400 lb car with a short wheel base and sub-par tires. Yeah... scares me. LOL.

I had the opportunity to buy that SVT. Liked the car, but kinda glad I passed on it. I'd rather have a 2010+

the mazdaspeed miata scared you? thats funny! my dads 04 terminiator with a kennebell made me about s*** my pants on a launch.

My MSM scares me because it's nowhere near stock. Having the tires break loose at 65 when you downshift to 4th to pass a semi on a slightly damp highway... yeah... that can be a little scary.

But yeah... the Terminator is a beast.

Right now stock I'm breaking the tires loose high in 2nd and into 3rd without much trouble. It took some getting used to, but I'm very comfortable with the car and how it handles.

Now, once the intake and tune get here, that's another story...

well... it has tried to kill him a couple times.

Never take girls for rides in possessed MSM. LOL.

I'm digging the new Stangs more and more. Must. Not. Buy. One... Insurance company already hates me.

LEDs for dome light and license plate lights arrived. Shifter has been bumped twice due to nickel coating at their outside vendor, hopefully shipping today or tomorrow.

Installed the LEDs today, and got news my shifter got delayed again until next Wed. Starting to get a little irritated...

Found out that the 2012 will have user-adjustable steering feel (Comfort, Normal, and Sport settings), as well as the Homelink buttons in the visors, which are now illuminated. All of these are things I wish my car had. Time to see about retrofitting...

Installed my Steeda Tri-Ax shifter tonight. Steeda (left) vs. stock (right). Shifting is very crisp, and 3rd gear is a breeze to find. No increase in vibration or noise.
