tune or not to tune

I'm kinda thinking if I should get the AP for my MS3. My current mods are cobb intake, TP with stock CB and ETS TMIC. I'm pretty please with the power gain i have from these mods and not looking for more HP, but not sure if they are safe to run with out tuning!! I heard that our MS3 are known to run rich, so does that mean the fuel system is ok to support my current mods. Also, Do you guys thing I should go with the denzo one step colder plug? For the one that are using the AP right now, do you guys have any issues? It seem that many user have some kind of issues with the AP. At this point, I just want my car to run reliable.(spin)

I'm sure there are dozens of people running the same setup as you are right now, and it is most likely "safe". That being said, getting yourself an AP with ATR to data log and then build yourself a custom tune is the best way to make sure you are safe. I have an AP on the way for just that reason; make sure I'm running safe and to be able to tune around the future mods I plan on getting.

Well...I'm no expert on car tuning...which mean I have to pay $400 for someone to do it for me...haha...so with the AP..we are talking about $1000+..ouch.

You can pick a generic map from COBB or you could have them customize one for you (200 bucks i think).

Your safe with your mods. Our ECU is very adaptive. The only thing I would not feel comfy driving untuned would be a downpipe + IC combo.

Thanks for you input coyfish. I guess I'll just keep it the way it is for now. BTW, does your test pipe give you any black smoke sometime??

All the turbo seal problems / etc. are with 06 models. I have an 07 so I don't smoke or anything along those lines. Removing the middle cat won't hurt your car in any way. If it smokes its because you have a problem that the cat was just hiding. Usually this is white smoke.

I'm on my mods and no tune. Car runs great and reliable with rare .4 KR. I think the colder plugs helped out with this.

I thought ms3 stated in 07.... I do have the 07 model too, but was build in 06. (eyeballs)

Oh you have the speed 3. Didn't realize. Long story short the test pipe won't generate any problems for you.
