TT Antenna on Protege 5

Just got mine!

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to let you know that I got mine from the guy that started this thread. $23 total via paypal. I just wanted to let everyone know that it was a simple screw on job, no special mods necessary. It is true that this antenna is glossy black, while our base is flat black, but I think it still looks better this way. I just put it on, and I don't have a digital camera for pictures, so I can't help anyone there...I just wanted to post and vouch for this guy, in case anyone was hesitant on giving this guy their money...I took a chance, and it was worth it, and I am happy with it...

I think I will have to get one of these for my MP5. I removed the roof rack and now the stock antenna looks too big. It makes it look like a radio controlled car.

Allright guys, I gotta say this...

I love the look of the antenna...I love how nice and easy it was dealing with Johnny (Protege5) and getting one for only $23 bucks...

But the reception isn't that great. I mean I have to drive a lot with my job, and the farthest I go is 1.5 hours south to Delaware. Whereas before, I had no problem getting any major Philly stations, both FM and AM....

With this Audi TT Antenna, I couldnt pick anything up once I got to Delaware! Don't even think of hitting the "scan" button, cause it will just scroll all the way around, maybe hit on one or two stations.

I have some serious deliberating to do....Keep the big, remote control car antenna and get all my Stations (esp. Howard in the morning, and occassionaly Opie and Anthony in the afternoon)....Or do I stick with the phat looking TT antenna and make more use out of my cd player?

I dunno...but the other day, I was sick of my cd's and really wanted the radio...

Ugh, decisions decisions....Still didn't remove my front plate either!

Keep both antenna's in the car. thats what I do, if I know im having a long drive home I put back the original. If I wanna pimp my ride out I use the TT antenna.

As for the por reception, the Audi TT has a antenna amplifier that boosts the fequency of the radio stock while our P5 doesnt have a amplier that is powerful enough to power the TT antenna.
