Trunk rattle: tools to blame?

Hello. Just bought the cx-5 and this is my first post.
Anyone know why every speed bump causes my trunk to rattle? I suspect it's the tools back there.
Do you have a quick fix?
Thanks!

The CX-5 has a well designed Styrofoam caddy to hold the jack/tools. You might have a look under the tire cover to make sure they are all properly stowed. While back there, air your spare back up to 60 psi.

Take the tools out? At least to confirm your suspicions? CX-5s are pretty stiffly sprung, particularly in the rear without a load. I've lowered mine a bit so it's even more so. If I have anything in the cargo area I can hear it hopping around if I go over a speed bump a little too fast and I've also suspected that sometimes I hear the tools rattling around back there too. My solution is just to take such bumps very slowly.

I don't recall hearing any tool noise from the trunk of my car...on road or off road. I'd guess either your spare isnt secured or the tools aren't in their place.

Just bought a 2016 CX-5 AWD Grand Touring last night, had the same issue. When i looking in the spare tire, the tire iron was sitting there loose inside the spare. Placed it in the styrofoam insert and the rattle went away. All good, just wish the dealer had caught it!

I had this problem too (Noticed on day two). It was not the tools. Mine was related to the rear hatch latch location. The rear hatch door is rubbing against the rear cargo trim near the latch (I think). I could reproduce the noise by pushing on the rear hatch door down low from the inside. The quick fix for me was to find a bumpy parking lot and adjusted the hatch C-bolt (forward or back) in the rear cargo trim until the noise stopped (the cover pops up real easy). We are now "mostly" noise free ...

I probably should have address with dealer, but have had mixed success with past cars. They always tell you they found it and fixed it, but it's back the next day ...
