Trunk leak *warranty related*

If they do, it's being forwarded to Mazda Canada, along with an official complaint about the dealership and details of my many problems with them.

So they fixed the leak, but just didn't bother draining it.. niice

yeah they put some caulking around a seam, and called it a day and wanted to charge $128 for it.

I could have done that myself had I been informed it wouldn't be covered.

umm, i work as a tech in a mazda dealer in michigan, and if i'm thinking correctly water leaks go under perforation area of warrenty which is under first 36 months unlimited milage, i can remember repairing few water leaks with cars over 30k miles, if you want i can ask my warrenty person just to make sure tuesday.

nah.. perforation warranty is like 7 years or some junk. I got my perforation (rusting rear fenders between fender and rear bumper) when I was at 52k miles (past the normal warranty).

i think there are two types of perforation, paint related and body panel attachment, i'm going to have to check my warrenty book at work to tell exact times, but i believe water leaks should be covered under normal warrenty as long as there are no signs of accidents.

There were no accidents with the car, and the leak was in a seam. They used some seam sealer to fix it. However, the leak caused surface rust to start in the area where the water was pooling... just awesome. They said the leak is covered under the 3 year 80,000km warranty, but not under the 7 year 160,000km Mazda warranty on the car. However, they told me this AFTER they did the repairs without me authorizing any work I'd be paying for.

mazda is aware of the trunk water leak problems.... although it never made it to full TSB status, they are aware of it and should be covered under warranty!

water leaks ARE covered under warranty by using the S0002XDX labor operations code, a maximum time of 0.9 hours can be claimed

if you have a choice, you just need to bring your business to a different dealer from now on because it shows how incompetent they are in customer service and awareness of bulletins posted by mazda as well as their warranty information

I have plenty of ammo to fight any bill they send me for this, and your information helps me with this. The leak was the seam under the tail light, exactly as the information you provided described, and the water pooled in the quarter panel well.

I WON'T be paying for it.

Oh, and I have my boyfriend calling the dealer an hour away to see if they'll make an appointment for saturday to deal with my crappy kenwood deck that crapped out for the second time (this deck was installed as a replacement 2 months ago). I may just take all my business to them in Saturday appointments.

Rats, too bad that doesn't really detail any repair procedure. A friend back home keeps getting water where the jack is stored, and I checked the seams and stuff and everything looked ok.

just found this thread. i have had both the left and right side same location you are talking about fill with water since day 1 of owning my msp. every winter it freezes too. I try and suck it up with a vac whenever i get the chance and give it a hefty spray of rust protection, but still EVERY rainfaill I get them filled.

Same problem on my previous MX6. It leaks in through the tail lights. Never once took the tail lights out, it just happens lol Im out of warranty now and before i didnt feel like taking off my fmic, piping, afc etc. just to try and get them to fix the leak at the dealer so i didnt bother. I think I am just going to drill a few small holes to let the water drain out, should be easy enough.

I grabbed some black silicone chulking and went to town on every seam inside the trunk.Also,had a leak that was coming into the front seat floor on both sides and the rear on the driver's side only.

it was, in the trunk for the longest.

So,I sealed some seams on the firewall just incase it was coming threw there too.

So good so,far!

I had this very same issue, took it to dealer along with some other work once i had bought the car.. they said it wasn't covered, (had about 50k miles on it) so i said w/e, the turbo prob. was my biggest concern, but it ended up costing me $105 for a new light gasket, and now a few months later i see a bigger puddle than before in there!, and when i was installing the afc my front passenger side near the kick pannel was a little damp, at least some of the metal and foam, last time i checked when screwing around with the wiring it was still dry, but i gotta get all those leaks sealed up before winter hopefully... although they did inform me about the warranty issue before doing it, but i had just bought the car less than a week before i brought it in.. fact that they didn't fix crap is kinda annoying, lucky i have some silicone around home, just gotta get the time
